I also think we tend to go overboard sometimes. We use the campground water supply for brushing teeth and rinsing, but use bottled water for drinking other than rinsing. If you are afraid of the campground supply, you can always add an external filter for $25-$30 or so. Of course it depends on the location as well, most places we stay are a municipal water supply.
