Sewer tote

I'm looking to purchase a portable sewer tote. Are some better than others? Is there a specific company / Web site to use that is cheaper than most?

Thanks in advance!

I don't have one, but I have read on several forums that people say the Barker with 4 tires is the cat's meow.

sewer tote

May want to look at the Barker Blue Tote. Four pneumatic tires & grease fittings on wheel hubs. Very easy to pull, even by hand. 3 size to choose from; 25 gal., 32 gal., & 42 gal. Got mine from rvpartscountry; had the best price.

Before you buy one, you need to consider a few things to make sure you get the right one.
How is it going to be used? Occasional use when tanks get full faster than anticipated or regular use when it will be used often to empty tanks on a semi permanent setup.
How will you get it to the dump station? In bed of truck or towed. They get heavy quick and lifting into a vehicle can be hard.
Where will you transport it when traveling?
Does it have a fill level indicator? If you close the dump valve when the tank is full, there is still a lot of nasty stuff in the drain hose. You can put a second gate valve right at the tank fill port.
Barker is a good brand , but pricey Tote-N Store and Thetford work but may not have all the features.

We have the Thetford Smart-tote with 4 wheels, it has a fill indicator, hose and handle that will fit over the ball on your TV if you want to.
We only use it once or twice a year and it works fine, as a matter of fact, lucky me, but most times my wife will use it and haul it to the dump station by hand it really is pretty simple to operate.

I've got an older Barker 22 gal on 2 wheel, straight axle with bushings, not bearings. Has a forked type gizmo that fits through the handle and lifts over the ball hitch. You can't go real fast with it of course, only use for gray water and rarely take it with unless going for over 4 days and no FHU. Like Flybob said "how are you going to use it" and how often

I got the 42gal Barker, because w/30gal black tank, I wanted one large enough to take a full tank dump w/out me having to monitor the level to keep from over flowing, ..... plus, not leaving a hose full of junk while I go dump a smaller tote and come back for more, ... they have a 32gal, but that wasn't enough of a cushion to suit me, .. it is a large unit, but w/the pneumatic tires, it rolls easy even w/a full load, ..... Barker is about as good as you can get, ......

Ive seen and heard to many messy stories to fool with one. Ill walk to the shower house and pee behind a tree after dark if i have to. Have no plans of ever messing around hauling waste in a portable container.

Most use the tote tank for gray water, not black water.
Most RVs run out of gray tank capacity WAY before black tank capacity.
We strictly use ours for gray water only.
The two of us can go 2-3 weeks straight before even come close to filling our 25 gallon black tank.

I have a baker tote. We only use for grey water. Use ours when we are more than 5 days in state parks, unless we use shower in camper then we can go 4 days before grey tank is full. I empty when tank is 3/4 full then I don't have to worry about overflowing tote.

we have a Barker 42 gallon it's big enough that I only have to dump once during a 3 day weekend like others have said they are pricy but it is a well constructed tank love the soft tires much better than the hard plastic on most

we have the 32gal tote-n-store and usually need it for the grey water. easy to fill and it comes with a handle to hook it up to the hitch and drive it to the dump station. I would not want to miss the tote anymore.
