Should the Bigfoot system be left down during winter storage?

I wondered if it would try to rust the jack legs.

I do not have a motor home nor the BIGFOOT level up system on my 5er. I do have the 6-point Hydraulic leveling system on my Cedar Creek.

The only two legs that are extended during the winter season and in storage are the front two legs. These are wiped down with a lubricant product (silicon) that will prevent rust and protect them. I will re-wipe them in the spring to remove any grit that maybe on them, before they are retracted when towing for the first time.

I have done this since new (2015) and all of the hydraulic legs are still in good shape with no pitting or seal leaks.

As far as winter storage, the tires sit on wooden 2X8 boards, chocked and covered with the front legs sitting on 4X4 wooden blocks. This is too keep everything from sitting on wet ground and sinking in the storage yard.

It should make no difference to the leveling system if left down or up I would advise if you are leaving it down to clean and coat the exposed areas with a lube of some sort. On my old class A I wiped down and lubed the exposed hydraulic parts with a hydraulic oil never had rust or problems they stayed extended all winter.
