Shower Leak on Forester 2801

So I had been noticing some water in my storage bin directly below my shower. Hooked up to city water (fresh water tank which is right below shower has been empty for some time) and began to spray water along the lower seams (where the wall hits the pan) and also directly back at the faucet and circular access point. Let the dripping begin!

I'm not seeing any drips directly from the plastic faucet components themselves...only when water is sprayed on them it seems to be getting behind the shower wall and then on in into my storage bin below it.

FR never caulked anything in these areas thus I'm kind of surprised I am just now experiencing the leaking. (Actually, it might have been going on for maybe 6 months or more.) Fortunately, inspecting underneath the shower pan, I don't see any rotting or mold so it hasn't been a major amount of water.

Anyone have to deal with this and if so what did you do? Thx.

I would just clean the soap scum from the areas around where the water is getting in through the fixture and caulk it with clear silicone.

So I ended up removing the access port and re-caulking around the backside of the plastic ring and filling the screw holes with caulk. Also disassembled the hot/cold water taps and made sure they were tight on their connections when reassembling. Waiting for caulk to dry now before testing...we'll see.

I did not caulk at the point the shower wall comes down over the shower pan. I assume it protrudes at least an inch vertically behind the wall to keep water from entering...anyone know if my guess is right?

Your guess is right. The pan extends up behind the shower wall a couple inches. I asked about caulking at a FROG Tech seminar and was advised not to caulk that area.

I have a Cherokee 274RK and my shower is similar. Leaks on the floor when you're done. I've tried caulking inside the shower where the door track meets the PVC shower base...still leaks. Then I caulked OUTSIDE the same door track. Will see on the next trip if that worked. I also decided not to caulk at the base of the shower walls as it seems that should remain loose in front of the base that goes up behind it, I assumed for expansion.

It didn't appear that the inside shower track had ever been caulked but I did have some peeling on the caulk outside the shower so I cut out the old caulk and aggressively re-did it. I also came up both corners of the shower where the metal meets the vinyl wall to try to help. Will find out next week if my work was successful.
