At the dealer checking out new motorhome. Fairly certain we were going to make the purchase so the dealer asks if I want to take it for a drive and being busy he asked if I was OK if I went without him. I said sure I can handle that, I am a truck driver, no problem.

Went for a drive with wife, stopped for lunch, cruised around town and brought motorhome back to dealer and parked right were it was before in real tight spot to be sure. Wife and I decided we would make the deal so I pulled out of parking spot to park beside our trade in motorhome and transfer our stuff over. Well, pulled out of spot made too sharp a turn and bumper caught lamp standard (concrete) and bent it back real bad. All ended well and for sure it could have been worse. One of those moments when I wished I could just turn the clock back.

well I guess I am going to put one up. Traveling thru town in Oregon, pulled in for gas. When pulling out, trailer brakes locked up in street. Luckily I was able to pull into a shopping center to check it. Found emergency brake cable pulled up under the hitch in bed. Locked up tight. Had to cut cable and get new safety line. As I was pulling out of said shopping center, person passing by walking started yelling for me to stop. Found I had left my steps out. We all pull one.

Last fall, a newbie ( brand new) with a brand new 31 Airstream, took the
Corner too tight in the lot where we store our trailer, caught the rear bumper of our F150' pushed it into the fender, cracked my tail light( truck was nosed in). The real sadness was the damage to his trailer. My bumper put a crease all the way along the shiny skin of the Airstream, ripped both awning supports out of the skin, and took his furnace door and exhaust out. I felt sick for him.

Be sure back stabilizers are completely retracted BEFORE raising the front stabilizers in preparation for hitching... cracked fiberglass across back of trailer ...it was LOUD when it cracked! Just cosmetic damage, but I felt really dumb...

In order to avoid that I bought a 5er tailgate. Figured I'd crunch the gate with the trailer or the trailer with the gate.

Cannot believe I was paying such little attention!

It put a small surface ding in the trailer and a small scratch on the tail light of my truck. Luckily a sticker over the ding all but covers it, and the tail has a tiny scratch. Luckily it wasn't worse, I must have stopped cutting it just in the nick of time.

Still makes me sick as the truck and trailer are both brand new. Anyone else ever make a stupid mistake that they could have shed tears over?

I am a complete newbie to the tt as it's our first but I back trailers every single day at work.
Be thankful it was a small nick. You wanna see mine, horrible and expensive to fix. Drove inot a gas station that had an awning with a sign reading 4.5m. We are 4.1m tall, but the roof was really under 4m. So BANG! a hole and lots of @#$%^&. Should have stopped and checked first.

I’ve done the exact same thing and so upset with myself. Scratched the fibreglass finish on the trailer and scuffed the tail light on my new F150.....and hubby was supposed to tell me when I was cutting it too close standing there the whole time

My neighbor was directing me and kept on saying “you’re ok, keep turning”. Got my Cruise Lite in my short driveway and started unhitching. I noticed a couple of paint scratches on my trailer before turning my attention to my brand new truck that had matching scratches. I no longer listen to people tell me that I can’t jack knife.

After an second injury (fridge door) I started thinking that an RV without boo-boos is probably an RV not used enough.

I have overflowed the kitchen sink....hubby left camp stove cover over the hot water tank and melted the trailer above it....I’ve backed up over a log and bent the stabilizer...the list goes on....it happens !!

Really stupid mistake

Several months ago , after having tire trouble on my 2008 Copper Canyon 5er, I decided to go to a 16 inch LT 10 ply truck tire. After an awful lot of measuring and calculating, I surmised it would work. I had sufficient room for the 16 inch tires. So I ordered 5 235/80R16 tires AND wheels. Upon arrival, I balanced them with beads. Now I'm good to go. They will not fit!! There is not enough room under the camper. Needless to say, I am stuck with $1100 worth of tires I can't use.

I like pics so here is what happened to my friend's 5er front cap from the truck tool box while he was turning around. That would of taken a big sticker. He took it well and had me repair it before his wife saw it. She probably would of got sick. Click image for larger version
