Skylight

I have a 2008 Flagstaff . It has a skylight in the bathroom over the shower. My neighbor has one in his 2004. Last year his skylight caved because of snow. I know he keeps an eye on it. He figured it was old and possibly dried out. Anyone had any trouble in the winter with theirs?? I asked the RV dealer where I bought mine. he told me it was a good idea to put a box over tbe skylight.

I also have another dumb question. when getting up on the roof do you use an extension ladder?? Do you put it against the side of the camper or on the roof line where the gutter is?? Does it bend the gutter. Thanks for the info in advance.

Most campers have a built in ladder on the back, for easier roof access, and for maintenance needs. I had to replace my crank-open vent on my 08 Flagstaff, because the Forida sunshine and heat dried the cover out and made it very brittle. Easy to replace however, and the dealer had a generic version in stock made by Camco, that seems better than the original. Only 12.00, too. The shower skylight seemed good on mine, for now at least! I forgot to mention if you don't have the built in ladder, use an extension ladder placed on the back, where there aren't any gutters. Watch out for the clearance lights, though. Also, U.V. light is what rots out the plastic covers over the vents. Even the fridge vent goes south from the sun in time. We don't get a whole lotta snow here, however!! Randy
