Slide out maintenance

Just curious what others with slide outs think. I contacted Lippert during a slide out issue now fixed. I was told that the slide outs should be operated once a week (another said every 2) to keep everything running smooth, lubed etc. It sounds like a good idea but also using them that way seems like it would wear out parts sooner or maybe the opposite? Just curious. Thanks all.

It seems rather counter intuitive to run something more often in order to keep it operating, doesn't it? I'd say if you use the proper lube, it should last until the next time you need to use it. Having to go out to open and close your slide every 1-2 weeks to maintain it's functionality is not only inconvenient, but ridiculous.

I keep my rollers sprayed with a product by Thetford, a dry film and the rubber seals sprayed with another product. I'm permanently parked so I may pull the slides in and out once a month possibly.
