Slide out Problems

Hi. I'm a relatively new camper owner. Just picked up my camper from winter storage and the motor to the slide out does not work. The camper is under warranty however the dealer/service seems to be booked up until June. Can't find the manual override for the slide out. Does anyone have any idea what to do? I have a Forest River ultra lite, 25bds, 2017. Would appreciate any help! Thanks.

Contact FR for other dealers who will do the warranty work.

Or contact independent RV shops or mobile repair to see if they'll do the work.
You'll have to get pre-approval from FR and be willing to be reimbursed.

Also, what brand is your RV?
FR makes over 100 brands.

If your trailer is same as in video, then you probably have a through the frame slide system. Look under the outside steps for a protruding shaft for manual operation. Here is slide manual. You should have a manual operating handle.

It's a FR Flagstaff. I contacted Camping World and they said they did warranty work on FR's.

Make sure that your batteries are fully charged, that may solve your slide problem

Could also be a blown slideout fuse.

One of our dealer's rv techs, who I know has a lot of experience, says our 2018 Coachmen Apex 259 does not have a manual slide mechanism.

He says if it fails in the out position, we'd have to disconnect the motors, find several strong men to help push it in, and then re-connect motors to lock it in place.

And I thought I paid for all the bells and whistles. Apparently not.

That's a Schwintec slideout, made by Lippert.

I have the same system.
I was told it would only take a couple of people to push it in.

You should watch some of the YouTube videos on how to troubleshoot it.

That’s what it was. Talked to a FR person who diagnosed the problem. Changed the fuse and away we go! Thanks for all the suggestions. I know a lot more about slide outs now.

You are correct. It's Schwintec. I will definitely watch the videos. Thank you.

Wish I was prepping mine for the season. We're still dealing with snow in Nebraska. Supposed to get more on Easter.

You guys are all saying a dealer needs to be involved? We have officially put the cart before the horse....

This is like someone posting on a car forum and saying "my car doesn't run, help." Before calling in the cavalry, let's go through a process of elimination and hopefully avoid an unnecessary trip to the dealer. Start small and work your way up.

What we know:
1. The slide motors don't work.
2. It has been stored for the winter.

So why now is a dealer needed?

OP please answer the following questions:
1. Did the slide work prior to storing for the winter?
2. When you tried to use the slide out, did it make any noise whatsoever?
3. Since storing, has your battery been fully charged and showing 12+ volts?
4. When you tried to use the slide out, was the trailer using battery or shore power?
5. Have you checked the fuse (it will look like a car/automotive fuse instead of a house breaker) and is it ok or blown?

My guess is:
1. The battery(ies) is dead and the slide won't work.

OR

2. The fuse is blown. This can happen from using the slide from battery power. The lower voltage (instead of shore power) causes the slide to draw slightly more amperage when the slide comes to a stopping point and blows the fuse.

Please let us know what you find for us to help further diagnose the issue. It is likely something very minor.

I just saw this after I posted above. I'm very happy for you that it was something simple.
