slides in the winter months

I know its not reccomended.... but has anyone left their slides out thru the winter? And does it really harm much?

Unless we're inside, we NEVER leave the slide open. There's no reason to since it takes only 10 seconds to open it.

Not understanding your post. Are you saying that your trailer is in a seasonal site?

Leaving the slide open when not there, is shortening the life of the seals and allowing for unmonitored water intrusion.

There are plenty of cons to doing this, what's your pros?

You also don’t mention what climate your rig is in. We’re assuming it’s a trailer, but we don’t know that either.

Rig is parked along side the house. DW likes to use it for getaway, hiding xmas gifts, girls get away, etc. I am out there every 2 weeks dumping dehumidfiers, checking for leaks, relax for 20 minutes. We leave them open all the time. 303 the seals 2-3 times a year and never had an issue. Not the first trailer we have done this with. Never an issue. Now the seals are not on the sun side so I am sure that helps to as the sun will kill all kinds of things.

I live in Wisconsin, My dealer leaves slides out over the winter. Slides can easily handle the snow load / weight.. It’s a personal preference.

If you leave them open I would check on it at least every two to three weeks. Your bigger issue is going to be the mice, make sure you look for the openings and fill with expanding foam that will not interfere with your slide operation in any way.
