Angry Someone broke into our trailer last night!!

I got a dreaded call this morning from the storage facility. Someone broke into our newer trailer last night. I had just waxed and covered it two weeks ago, putting it away for the winter.

They cut through the cover, smashed the window, and then opened the door. Once inside, they didn't do any damage and just took a few minor items. So back to the dealer this weekend to fix the window. It doesn't look like they even tried to look in our storage bays as there was no damage to the cover there. The worst thing is when they cut the cover with their utility knife, they pressed up against the trailer, slicing into my nice new, freshly waxed, perfect fiberglass side and decals! It looks superficial (I hope) but don't know how that can be fixed. Anyway, here's a couple pics:

Sorry to hear about your trailer. Did the police try to retrieve any prints? I assume it was teenagers but you never know in this economy. I hope they catch them at some point!

Maybe you can find a bodyshop that will do a trailer. Had some minor fixes to my gelcoat paint job, perfect color match and luster. Maybe better than a RV general repair shop. Good luck with it, what a waste!

What a shock that must have been. Nothing is sacred anymore
Probably your insurance deductible is just as much as the repairs will be.....
Hope you get it all settled soon and it goes smoothly for you.

Thanks, it was definately a shock. I forgot to mention that it looked like they hit every camper in the storage lot ~15 of them.

Hope nothing like that happens in our storage lot; it's on base and it's in an area where most people don't venture down unless they're going to the RV lot...... pretty secure.... can't access the lot unless you access the base....

What a crappy feeling looking at that. All the time and effort you put into a trailer. Just for some lowlife punks to do that.

Sorry that this happened. RVs tend to be easy hits. I haven't had any problems but then there's no access during non-business hours. My co-worker trailer has been broken into 3 times (different storage places).

You would think after they saw that I removed the battery and propane tanks and cover that they would know I'm smart enough not to leave anything valuable inside. The next time, I'm going to laminate a sign and attach it to the cover saying there's nothing inside and all valuable removed. Hopefully they can read.

The storage places we have around where I live I could see this happening. I am so glad I can park mine next to my garage.

This makes me wonder if you should have put an OPEN sign on the door & left it unlocked. There might have been less damage too.

Truthfully, the whole thing stinks, lets hope they are caught.

That really sucks, nothing worse than the damage they do for what they are taking. I am also glad I have access to park mine next to the garage.

That happened to us a few years ago. We had our Class C parked at an RV lot that was gated and fenced in. Even had the barbed wire around the top of the fencing. One night it was so foggy that you couldn't see a hand in front of your face, and the next day we got a call from the RV lot owners saying our RV had been broken into, along with several others. They broke the window in the door to get in. Nothing was stolen and no damage inside thank goodness, so replacing the glass was all we had to do. But still!!!

Oh that is just a drag!! I am sorry that you have to go through this just for some small items that are not worth much.

I hope the repairs go smoothly.

Sorry for your trouble. We had a break in 12-14 years ago when we stored our camper at my uncles house. Very minor damage and nothing taken that I can remember. (We had removed valuables as you did)
What I do remember is the lousy feelings afterwards.

Good luck to you.
Dan

I feel really badly for you. Hope they get these ding-bats. Probably kids.
That facility needs a good CCTV system with a few dummy cameras.
