My first truck was a 1953 Willys. When I traded it, a trucking company bought it to plow snow and roll start semi tractors. I met the driver about a year later and asked him how the Willys was holding up. It was in the shop for routine service and that's it. Granted, I swapped the 4-banger for a Chev V-8, but the trans and drive train were stock.

We have a 2012 Liberty. Gas, oil change when needed, and a set of tires hasn't broken the bank. Our son has a two Jeeps purchased new. One has 110K and the other 160K+ with no major problems. He's not complaining.

BTW, how did this thread go from a TT to Jeeps?

Sorry to late. A Nigerian prince is holding it for me and we'll be paying me back in gold bullion. He's on vacation right now but he's going to call me as soon as he gets back😟.

You are correct, only 40 feet. Diesel overhaul was 5k. I guess it was the ski boat I was remembering.

Rebuild my stroked LS7 after a cylinder scoured. It didn't even make it out of the parking lot and a rod went through the block. Since used parts were put back in no warranty. Waited 4 months for a new short block to be shipped to Canada. Now I'm waiting on lifters. When it is all put back together I hope to drag it around to some road course to get out and play.

Not really, in the grand scheme of things. Maybe time back in 35 years ago. Would I sell them for what I paid for them, I admit no............. but they are not modified, they are put back as they came from the factory. ( Pretty much like our campers )

If I had a classic, that's what I would go for. I'd want the vehicle to be in such shape that, if they wanted to use it in a period movie or TV show, it wouldn't have any obvious anachronisms.

My brother had a '57 Belair for a while that, while a beautiful car, had the speedometer replaced with an LED digital. He was often frustrated that the car didn't do well at shows, but I suspect the non-period dash details took a lot away from it.

He now has a '65 Chevelle convertible and a '59 Apache (the Apache is up for sale, unless he's already sold it).

The closest I have to a classic is a 22 year old Toyota Tacoma with 206,000 miles on it (most rock-solid reliable vehicle I have EVER owned). It was kind of an eye-opener when I stopped to think, my truck is older now, than a '57 Chevy would have been when I graduated High School, and the '57 was considered a classic even then.

They are not houses and we go to enjoy where ever we end up. To us a camper is just a place to eat and sleep.

Thank you for giving me permission to just enjoy my new one. I ain't doing nothing to it but cleaning it and emptying the tanks as required. I am going to put a bowl down for the keys, and the dealer is putting in a stair rail, and a hook for the leashes.

I've heard it said the only difference between men and boys is the price of our toys.

If you are spending the money on the camper you aren’t wasting it on wine, women and song. And remember if you are doing the work yourself you are saving money. ;-)

I'm with you. I haven't made any changes to my camper at all. My main concern is the shower, air conditioning, and bathroom. 😆 I like to travel long trips and use it to crash. I don't "camp" I don't spend anymore then one night for the most part.

I was told years ago by a wiser man than me, don't add anything if it doesn't increase the value. Anything else is wasted money.

Sure you had to remind me of all the motorcycles in my life and the one and I'm looking at right now. I'm glad that created this thread, it has helped me understand why I'm not wealthy.
