I purchased my 2016 Forest River Salem 19.5 BH for 7000.00 out the door.
In the last 4 years I have made over 30 somewhat major improvements, and 20 smaller ones. I do like it ,even if it is a very poorly built unit (but that is why it was cheap). I want to stop working on this thing. I have turned a good deal into an average deal buy spending $ on upgrades! I need a 12 step program that works with social distancing.

The funny part is: I bought this for my Granddaughter to have a playhouse when she get older. Now she will probably just move in with her loser boyfriend at 13. I guess I will just wheel it over to her mothers house when that happens.

I know what you mean I've owned Jeeps before. But I've also always owned more than one boat. And boats are worse than Jeeps.

Same here... I tried to think of something clever to write here, but I can't .
I still have 3-4 project I want to finish. Im just glad there is someone else out there that shares my anguish and pain and Im not alone

I thought mods was the reason we get these things, cuz you know they’re NEVER the way you want ‘em. Did you happen to catch my signature below?

The manufacturer may build them but they’ve never actually lived in ‘em.

If it doesn't have a metal data plate stating Manufactured by Willys-Overland, or Kaiser-Jeep Corporation then you don't have a "real" Jeep.

I guess I am the odd one out. After 5 campers over 35 years the only mod that I ever make to a camper is a key hooks. Can't see wasting the time or extra money on mods.

They are not houses and we go to enjoy where ever we end up. To us a camper is just a place to eat and sleep.

I look at my solar power project like it's somebody else's hobby car. There's always another improvement you can spend your money on. The thing that's eating my budget is not the major components, but the special tools required and the endless variety of electrical connectors of which you might need 3 of a particular kind but can buy only 10 or 25 at a time. Then, when you're almost done, you need another one for a slightly different wire size and screw size, and can't do anything until you buy it, and 24 extras that you don't need and won't use before you die.

First rule of wire connectors-------"You'll always have plenty of the wrong ones"

My TT is my "hobby car" and based on what I've seen my friends spend on their cars, mine is less expensive

This thread is making me feel like I need to get therapy. I got into camping to save money on hobbies. I started with flying. When it was time to be responsible and settle down I moved to sailing since it was significantly cheaper. After rewiring a 45 year old boat and upgrading every system to improve reliability we ended up moving inland. Needed a new hobby so camping it was. I found it to be much less expensive. I guess it's all relative.

Now to go install my new rear observation camera...

I want to thank everyone for remembering the worthless Jeeps the sinking boats the I smashed everything I ever built remote control. It made me remember it could be worse it could be British Leyland which would mean it's wearing out and failing even if I'm not using it. At least I can take it more than 25 miles from my house where the reasonable Assurance it'll come back home with me. Also that some of the improvements I've made were not to keep it alive it was just to make it better for me.
