I remember the old days when I helped protect the Space Shuttle. There was another launch facility at Vandenberg AFB, CA for the shuttles...but it was mothballed because of funding. They brought the shuttle out there a time or two...but had never launched it. They piggy backed it on the 747...quite a show.

its the only job that wil bring me out of retirement, he bugs me each launch to come join the fun, i tell you its getting awefully enticing
, the shear weight of that puppy leaving the earth is incredible,
