Steps won't retract

I have a georgetown ds35 when my door opens my steps won't extend, until, I crawl in and start the engine. I am plugged into a fifty amp service at home. I'll say that I just brought it home from camping world of Oxford Alabama after trying to get some work done to it (without happening) (never again to them). At the same time my steps won't extend, my awning will not extend out either (until engine is started). When it is started the steps extend and retract like they are supposed to. Has anyone had this problem, and if so what's the fix, or any recommendations? I posted this before and got several replies but my computer is an oldie goldie and don't work properly half the time, so I apologize to those that replied before and say thanks to y'all and appreciate any and all the help I can get.

Thanks
Scootermae

Both of the step and awning per your described, sound to me like your house batteries ran really low. If you have the coach at the service center for couple weeks or longer, you may have depleted your house batteries.

Note that both of your step and awning works from your house batteries.

When you start up the engine, the house battery got charged at the same time, it may hold enough power to run your step until it depleted again like your description that after you started the engine, the step and awning works properly.

The solution is to keep plug your coach to your home power for a day or so, it will charge up the batteries then everything should be back to normal.

Note that since your house batteries depleted to nada, it may ruin your batteries too. What I meant is you will notice your batteries will not hold the charge fully or deplete quicker than it was before.

Good luck, hope that would help.
