Good news! Enjoy the new trailer I'd recommend the "Equalizer" brand WD hitch. It has sway control built in. I loved mine! Again and most importantly glad everyone is O.K.

Agree. That is the important thing for now. The trailer can be replaced. Empathy is the best thing for samsc03 right now......he just went through a very scary, life threatening experience, probably totaled his trailer, and possibly damaged his truck. When he is ready, maybe we can start a discussion here or on another thread with ideas of possible problems and solutions to benefit other members of this forum.

I was not using a WDH or sway bars as we never needed ones.

one suggestion, please buy one for the future for you and your family's safety and ours. there's a reason the vast majority of TT owners have them. it's not just for weight distribution.
i've experienced a similar situation and only because i had an Equal-i-zer, did we make it through without something bad happening.
I had a tire go down on the pick-up that almost caused me to loose control. Same thing, picked-up a nail somewhere. The tire SHREDDED, but in one of the still attached shreds, there was the nail!
Bought a Pressure-Pro Tire Monitoring system for all 10 tires (8 on the road and both spares) after that, and now I've become O/C about monitoring and adjusting tire pressures....
