Angry Surprised today

Putting my Coachmen motorhome up forsale so today I went to the campground where I am storing it to clean it up a little. First thing I was going to make sure it started as this would be the first time since winter layup. Nearly jumped out of my seat when I turned the key and the motor started right up and sounded like an Indy race car. Turned it right off to investigate why it was so loud. Well as soon as I looked under the coach I saw that my catalytic converter was cut off. This is going to cost a little.
Wondering if I file an insurance claim if my rates will go up. Guess I'll have to call my agent and find out.

We keep our Berk in a gated need to use code to enter outdoor storage yard. This spring 6 or so gas coaches had theirs cut off too. Sorry to hear that sucks

Cat Converter is a big trend. They have rare earth minerals that are valuable.

Sorry that it happened to you.

Why are you selling?

Check your policy, there might not be a deductible for theft.

From past experience, simply asking your agent about this is the same as a theft report, whether you use your insurance or not and it will be held against you.

I never heard of this "asking is the same as a claim and will be held against you".
My independent agent would not report anything against me unless I actually filed a claim.

So what if it does. As soon as you sell the coach you'll be canceling that policy anyway.

Claims on any insurance policy will show up on your personal insurance record.

Claims on my motorcycle a year prior to me selling it( non fault bike getting knocked over by someone else) showed up ok my inquiry when shopping car and home owners policies. And that was a year after I sold it.

Most insurance have forgiveness for first time, and most wont jack up rates for small Comprehensive claims, especially in cases like this, unless you had stipulated it was being stored at home and it wasn't.

I have Gieco and have had two no fault total losses, along with a couple deer killings, and my rates didn't get jacked up, only the normal yearly increases. I compared mine against a family member and we both got the same rate increase, his had no claims for 5 years.
