Terribly uncomfortable mattress - HELP

We purchased a 2019 Cherokee Wolf Pup 18TO in December of 2019. Although we were told that the mattress included was a "plush" mattress, it is anything but. It is the hardest, most uncomfortable mattress ever. I like a somewhat firm mattress but this thing is awful, like sleeping on a board, which is basically what you are sleeping on with the mattress. All you feel is the frame under it. I wake up with my back, hips and shoulders killing me. I have even added a memory foam eggshell topper and it still isn't comfortable. I can see this causing me to cut many trips short if I don't replace it. Any suggestions for a lightweight comfortable mattress that doesn't cost a fortune and not too heavy for the frame? It is a Queen short.

We ended up replacing our OEM mattress after our 4th outing.

Just do a search on YouTube for "RV mattress"... hours and hours of videos on the subject.

Look up Zinus mattresses. Get an 8" or 10" RV/short queen.

We have always been able to replace our RV mattress with a regular queen size mattress of whatever brand we wanted.
Measure your area to see if a regular size will fit, then buy what you want.

I just got a three inch memory foam topper from Costco for my "plush" mattress. Since my trailer has a residential-size 60x80 queen bed, it was a perfect fit. Now I sleep like a baby.

We ended up getting a Zinus mattress, from Walmart.com... it was a closeout, and we got it for $150. We really like it.

If you shop around, there are deals to be had on RV mattresses.

We ended up putting a 4in Dunlop Latex mattress topper on our OEM mattress which acts now more like a foundation than anything else and it's great to sleep on. Latex is far better than foam and will last for many many years.

Yes, we did the same and it is now more comfortable than our bed at home.

Agree 100%. We added a 3 inch memory foam topper to ours and it made a world of difference.

mattress replacements

Each of the 2 travel trailers and current class c motorhome, the first thing we did, even before our first trip out is buy a new mattress. Two of them were 5" high density foam made by a local company. When we got the class c, I told the salesperson I did not want the Serta mattress and could we pull the mattress from the TT and he exchanged it. The mattress that comes with any RV is the cheapest, uncomfortable mattress you have ever sleep on. We are very happy with the high desity foam mattress. Wife said she likes it better that the one at home. There is no substitute for a good night sleep after a day out in the camper.

I think the mattress that came in our Puma was made from recycled beer bottles and tennis shoes, we replaced it with a memory foam rv queen from Amazon, and itís great.

Our Dutchmen Denali came with a great mattress, it was comfortable. Our Grand Design came with a crappy mattress that we've put a 3" foam topper on that makes it liveable. We have a king size Tempurpedic in our house that is heavenly. It is nearing it's time to be replaced. When we do so, I'm going to cut it down an put it in the camper.

We also did what AlaskaErik did but from another store and topped that with a quilted topper to boot. I sleep in the MH better than at home. The MH and home beds have similar mattresses now so Maybe its that up north fresh air and activity.

I have back issue and that is one of the first things we needed to replace. Prior to going on a 3 month trip, I bought a Zinus on Amazon. Mine is the 8" queen short. I am now a happy camper.

We tried the topper route first and ended up with a hybrid mattress from Amazon. Best sleep since.

Amazon sells inexpensive Zinus mattresses. They are available in many different sizes/ thicknesses. They are also trimmable for those of you who need a rounded corner. I trimmed mine; opened up the cover a little, trimmed with large sissors, then re-sewed up the hole.

If you need a non-standard mattress, try Tochta and their Utopia mattress. We replaced our factory mattress in our Sunseeker after our first test run. Not cheap but made to our specifications, thickness, depth, and degree of softness. Sleeps like a cloud.
