Thanks, I Guess

It was really nice of the dirty thief that broke into my toy hauler to be so "gentle". Popped one of the rear windows, cut the screen, went in and looked around, but only stole the television. More aggravating part was that they left the window open and we've had rain for weeks. So although they didn't trash the place, the wall and floor were wet from rain water. How do I know if I have water inside the wall? And do I need to replace the entire window, frame and all if they broke the lock tabs off? Or do they sell just the window and locks?

Shouldn't insurance take care of all damages?

Yes I have insurance, I'm just curious how I or the insurance folks can determine if there is water intrusion. I would hate for them to say "just replace the window" then in the spring find mold or moisture in the walls.

I would think the shop you take it to for repairs would evaluate all damages, if not maybe insist on it.

The best thing to do is remove (or have them remove) the frame. That way you (or they) can tell if there's water intrusion into the wall. It would also be prudent to pull back the base trim at the floor under the window and do a moisture test.
