The mystery key
Hi Everyone!! Heres a good one for ya`ll! I have so far purchased 2 brand new TT`s. Each time i was given the full set of keys. The ones for the Main entrance door and the baggage compartment doors. On both occasions I have recieved a `gold` colored key. It looks exactly like the baggage door key but has a slightly different cut. I asked the dealer on the second delivery what it went to and they had no clue whatsoever!
Any ideas?????
Joel

If you look at your keys you will see a set of number, those numbers should match the numbers on your locks. The numbers are located at the key way( this is where you put your key in the lock). If you can not match the gold key to any number on your camper, then I would contact the manufacture. You should have three keys, one set for the cargo or storage, one set for the dead bolt for the entery doors and a set for the door handles.

LOL!!! A hidden safe!!! Nice
Well..the dead bolt would make sense..but the key doesnt work it. The key that works the door handle aslo works the deadbolt. So why lock the deadbolt! Der. My last TT was like that too. and the other key wroks the cargo/shower locks.
I must just be special to get two useless golden keys!!
Joel
Oh..I know!! Maybe it unlocks the secrets to the concertone radios!!!!!

If you pull the door handle like you are going to open it and look up under it you will see the cam that is attached to the back of the cylinder, if the cam is forced out of position and the dead bolt is not used then the door will open. As far as the dead bolt even though you can use the same key to open both locks the cam to the dead bolt is consealed in side of the door. I suggest, if you are going to lock just one lock use the dead bolt.

It's the key to your dealer's heart I guess. I have no idea.

As far as it being the key to the secret of the concertone i think thats very unlikely since none are known to exsist. LOL Does your camper have a lock on your spare tire ?

You lock the deadbolt because it's possible for the door to vibrate
open on the road if you just lock the handle latch.
With the dead bolt locked it's much less likely to happen.

A lot of RV's come with a security box under the bed. It could be the key to that. I don't see it mentioned on the site but you never know.

We received the same gold key when we picked up our TT in February. We don't know what it's for either but think maybe it's the master for the storage locks. Never have tried it though.
Our very first camper was a hybrid Trail Cruiser and the dealer told us that all the storage and handle locks were keyed the same for all TT so that when we dropped our HYX off for maintenance we didn't have to leave any keys because they had a master as long as we only locked the handle. We were also told never to leave anything valuable in the underneath storage because anyone could use their key and open it. Don't know how true any of this is or if it just pertains to trail cruisers or maybe even just this dealer, we never tried it. However, when we dropped the trailer off for service, we never left any keys.

Yes, I've heard the storage locker keys are the same across many brands.
Everyone in my (previous) Shadow Cruiser forum had the same keys
and it looks just like the ones we have now!

My extra gold key unlocks the outside cubbyholes as well as the outside shower. Put some graphite spray on the locks, and try the key there. I think that key is from the outside shower manufacturer. The dealer told me that unfortunately all the outside compartment keys fit all campers, anyway !
How's THAT for some information !!! Randy

Dose the number on the gold key match the number on the lock?

Good job guys!! Ha!!
I havnt matched up the numbers to the locks.. Way to techy for me, especially when there are more important issues goin on. Ex. Radio and awning.
When the dealer releases the trailer back to me i`ll check the #`s
Thanks Guys!

Our odd key went to the outside shower. There must be a market for outside shower components.

We just picked up our new 2008 2701ss this weekend, and I specfically asked my dealer what the gold key was for. He said it is for the outside shower, but the other compartment keys will open it so you really don't need it.
