The T-handles on both of my dump valves have snapped...

I've noticed that the gate valve seems to have a bunch of bolts in it. Is it possible to open the valve and replace just the part attached to the T handle? Or do I have to cut the pipe and replace the whole assembly? I'd rather not get into cutting them out. The two valves are close to where the pipes join together and I feel like matching everything back up could be a real pain. Click image for larger version

Most of the time they're threaded on. Open the valve and use a vice grips to firmly hold the tube (be careful not to crush it). You should be able to turn the handle and to thread it off.

New handles can be purchased.

However, if it broke because the valves are difficult to operate I'd just purchase new valves and replace them.

Yes you can easily replace both valves. Inspect the valve for a manufacturer name. Probably Valterra. Drain the tanks as much as possible, remove the screws and install the new valve with the new seals. They will tell you the all valves mo matter the manufacturer are 100% interchangeable. My experience tell me otherwise. I replace all three of mine this past summer they were re.ote located so a little harder but still not rocket science. The smaller one should be marked 1.5 inch or maybe 2 inch while the black tank is a 3 inch. Buy the replacement and replace. Its that simple. You may even be able to replace just the handle. My black k water handle screwed on&off. Check that first. Let us know how it all works out.

Sometimes a hard to operate valve can be helped by putting some "cooking shortening" on the shaft. A lot of tank chemical liquids have valve lubes in them which is often just coconut oil. Avoid any petroleum based sprays as the valve seals and body materials may not hold up well to the "oil".

It's not exactly a pleasant job but one can often clean the seal area when the tank is empty and valve open by using a piece of welding rod with the end bent into a short "L". Run this "tool" in the groove that the valve plate runs in and make sure that residue hasn't accumulated there. After probing with the tool just use the garden hose sprayer to hose out whatever you dug out. Shouldn't be much and it will just disappear down the gutter along with all the other crud from the driveway (like dog and bird doo-doo).

If you aren't using a tank chemical with a lube in it, give it some thought.

ditto on metal replacement handles. mine just fit on the end of the shaft and are held to the shaft by a screw that threads into the shaft. put some locktite on the screw to help hold it.

I dragged a handle;(
Replaced it with a metal one via eBay, around $6 shipped. They just screw on.

My handle was broken off just like yours. It’s easy to replace the whole valve. Although it may look like a seamless pipe, it is not. Just take out those 4 bolts, and the replacement valve slides in perfectly.

Man oh man! That assembly is really close to the ground. I wouldn't worry about a handle. That whole contraption needs a rebuild!

If your handles broke because they were hard to pull, here is a video showing how to lubricate them.
