Gee ... I sure hope there's no electrical shorts anywhere that spark and start a fire burning the thing to the ground so the insurance company has to replace it ...

Cheap locks don't work

Sounds like your 'master lock' el cheapo was one of those they can break with a crowbar in about 3 seconds. Next time get a serious lock, lock up the safety chains to the jack post, disconnect power to the tongue jack, put locking chocks on both axles, maybe all 4 wheels?
Anyway at least a serious lock for sure & lock the chains.

Don’t know that I’d be able to contain myself through your adventure.
I can’t believe someone from insurance thinks they can make it all good again for you.

FULL VALUE WRITE OFF IS ALL I CAN SAY.

Would never insure with either as checked both to cover pickup, Jeep and camper. Neither could come close to identical coverage at the rate it cost me to insure all three with Auto Owners Insurance. Insured with them for several decades, never an issue with the few claims have had.

I'm sorry about the theft.. hoping they write it off.. don't wanna mess around with those druggies.. meth & especially fentanyl are nasty drugs.. if you have kids around, it doesn't take much bad fentanyl to kill them.
When it comes down to it, if they want it, they'll take it.. the youtube video of that guy on page 3.. with taking hubs off, putting up the jacks.. all that stuff.. it'll slow them down, but they'll still get it. An RV was stolen from where I leave my unit.. they drove thru a chain link fence, cameras & lights everywhere, thru the ditch & onto the highway.. wheels were locked up (not sure if that's a new thing or not on some trailers, I always thought it was power that activated the brakes) till the tires exploded.. & they kept going.. so, lowering jacks & **** will make it more difficult, but they'll take it if they want it.
As for your trailer hitch lock, I'd go with https://www.amplock.com/... they're a very solid unit, with a special key. Also can't drill it out cause when pressure is put on it, the tumbler just turns.. not cheap, but much better than those masters..
Hope things get settled quickly before our short season ends.
Happy Camping

I don't even know how to comment to that, other than the deputy should have just pushed said criminal over the guardrail when no one was looking
Lets hope it is totaled so you dont have to deal with any "leftovers" down the road

I have a 16' flatbed trailer parked next to my garage and since we are gone for extended periods of time, I jack the trailer up, put it on jack stands, take the tires off and put them in the garage. Someone would have a hard time getting it off my property.

We had a utility trailer stolen off our property in April. It was there when we were home, went camping and 2 weeks later it was gone. The scary part is my 2 teenagers were home when it happened.

Holy cow! Almost like an episode of Cops’

What a horrible feeling of disbelief that moment your wife realized the trailer was gone!

Wishing you the best!

Maybe they will keep them locked up a while. Around here they charge them and let them go. Virus danger in the jail! Nope no danger outside though.

That would make a good short movie. Good luck with getting everything you need to settle the whole thing.

A lot of stolen vehicles are burned on remote roads around here and since all that's left is a hulk, no issues with insurance "totalling" it.

Be sure to have a stranger write the note. My luck, the note would be recovered and the insurance would deny the claim. Make sure it can't be traced back to you.

This might be the picture that pushes them into a new trailer for you?

Fingers crossed you get a new one.

I hope you get a brand new trailer and also hope they lock the thieves up for a long while.

Reading about all of the trailer and motorhome thefts led me to purchase a GPS tracker with cell tower triangulation backup.
It reports the location once daily but more frequently if moving.
The GPS location is very accurate. The cell towers will put you in the neighborhood.
It has leads to connect to 12 volts to keep the lithium battery charged.
The annual service fee is around $120 and covers the continental US.
If it crosses into Mexico or Canada I may be out of luck but both are far enough away from Georgia that I hope we would find it before then.

It gives me peace of mind knowing I may have a chance at recovery but after your story I may not want it back.Click image for larger version
