We didn't. We were in the middle of a long drive day from Muleshoe to Lampasas. Trying to get to Austin to see a buddy of mine.

On a helpful note...

On my last two trips thru Ohio on the turnpike at several different service plazas, I noticed that at least one of the semi lanes has gas pumps with all grades of gas. As you approach there are pretty visible signs stating what is available in the lane. Options were diesel, def, and gasoline...
Maybe other toll road states will get with the program...

Safe travels everyone.

Saw this outside a restaurant in Festus, MO.

Had Texas plates. Lighting was bad, and the other pics didn't come out (but I'll attach them anyway). It is a Ram 2500 with a lift kit, hauling a 40 or so foot gooseneck, with a Ram 2500 on ramps in front and sitting on a large toolbox in the back, with a OBS chevy 1500 low-rider under it facing backwards, behind the toolbox and yet ANOTHER 2500 Ram behind Chevv with a diesel engine in the bed. Oh and there was about 6 foot of loading ramps sticking out the back end for the second Ram to sit on, or else the rear wheels would have been on the ground.

The TV Ram had aftermarket low profile wheels on front and what looked like stockers of differing year on back. They both looked to be nearly deflated, but I assume it was to the monstrous load on them. I hesitate to guess at the pin weight of this cluster (expletive), but I can only assume it was well north of "a lot".

I wonder if you are actually driving it, or merely offering suggestions to the truck on where you would prefer it go.

Love the "shovel ready" Edsel Backhoe!

The other could be the "Tow-Mater" prototype!

true...that boat is on a special lift platform that allows it, and it's trailer, to 'slide' back down the rear of the bed and off onto the roadway - it's a unique way to haul a boat, for sure.

This is iconic. It is very tall and very nicely done. I understand it travels around the county and currently is located in Graham, NC. I’m not sure how long it will be there. It is certainly worth the trip to see it.

The photo the statue is based on is nice, but the story behind it... not so much.

Apparently nobody knows for sure who the 2 people are although numerous people have claimed to be them.

They are pretty sure the guy is George Mendoza

Quote:
Mendonsa was identified by a team of volunteers from the Naval War College in August 2005 as "the kisser". His claim was based on matching his scars and tattoos to scars and tattoos in the photograph.[16] They made their determination after much study including photographic analysis by the Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories (MERL) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, who were able to match scars and tattoo spotted by photograph experts, and the testimony of Richard M. Benson, a photograph analysis expert, professor of photographic studies, plus the former Dean of the School of Arts at Yale University. Benson stated that "it is therefore my opinion, based upon a reasonable degree of certainty, that George Mendonsa is the sailor in Mr. Eisenstaedt's famous photograph."
Greta Friedman came forward as the woman, and Mendosa positively identified her as the girl in the photo with him. It's not 100%, but it's as close as we are gonna get. If that's true, she basically says he assaulted her.

Regardless, if you are in the area you should take the time to see it. Currently it is less than a mile off I-85 in Graham, NC.

My wife had a bird land on the truck at a stop light and didn't move at first even after she started accelerating.

You're lucky you didn't have to wash the hood after the bird left

RIGHT?! Would have been sooo gross.

Not that the truck is clean, but that would have actually made me get a mop and bucket out.
