Don't forget the figure 8, boat, and school bus races. Something going on up at the raceway today. Big carnival setting up earlier.

When the Powerball was up around 500 million, the cubicles were buzzing one morning about what you would do if you won. When it was my turn, I stated that I would not tell DW and leave for work every day. The men busted up but the women gave me grief.

Sorry for the hijack.

That's probably the 2nd annual Rockford Town Fair. Went last year as DW wanted to see the headliner singer (Eddie Money). I wasn't impressed with the fair or the singer!

It's supposed to be replacing On The Waterfront.

That's exactly what it is. Although I've heard nothing about it on the radio or TV. I didn't even know it was there until I drove by yesterday.

It's still funny to me that they are having the Rockford Town fair at the Rockford Speedway, which is located in Loves Park.

Rockford Speedway. Ahh, remember a great concert back there in 1980-07-27, I think the line-up was Judas Priest, Scorpions and Heart.

But more on topic, a few years ago my parents were approached by some guys wanting the old 1966 West Wind TT that was sitting in the side yard. They had every intention of taking it to said demolition derby. They made it go away so it was a win-win transaction.

While I bet that it was a hoot watching it nobly battle, have to wonder if it would have found a different after-life if the people from that "Flipping RV's" show had gotten to it first.

Exactly what I was thinking! Young At Heart was just last weekend. Who plans this stuff?

Played Jungle King in college. Fed it a lot of dimes. Circa 1974.

We had the same discussion at work too. I think it was $500 mill or so and we were talking about the first thing you would do. When they asked me, I said "Get a divorce". They looked at me for a second and one lady asked "are you serious?" "yep" was my response.

"is it for tax reasons?" she asked. "Nope" I replied

"I thought you loved your wife!" "I do" said I. "I'll still love her, and we will still live together. We just have to get a divorce". She was totally confused and said "but, why?"

I replied, "Give me that kind of money, and I will guarantee I will do something to screw up my marriage. Like I'll buy a yacht with a button on the dashboard that when I press it a Learjet will airdrop strippers onto it, or stuff like that. Might as well get the divorce over with and out of the way so I don't spend all my time waiting for the other shoe to drop"

She just stared at me. In fact, she never really spoke to me conversationally after that.

OK. I'm done, back to the regularly scheduled topic

Ohh I wasted penty-o-money and still do. Pinball was a quarter tho.... I graduated in '82... I know just a puppy. I just hate to see stuff wasted when it has value. Demolition derby or something prolly not so much. Punk with a new toy and abuses or worse literally tears it up for fun. That hurts. I was raised poor(still am) and hate to see waste. I see the kids double up on food and then throw away, I see people paying too much for something because it doesn't matter to them and it hurts. Even at work they keep the a/c lower than it needs to be and it bothers me because it is waste. It is almost like I am a depression survivor or a WWII rationing person. I dunno i figure it's mostly because I am tight. It is not because I am a tree hugger.

I feel your pain. I hate to see waste or things being torn up needlessly also. It bugs me to no end when DW uses more expensive freezer bags for things when a less expensive storage bag would work just as well. I have spent more than a few nickels in pinball machines when I was a kid though.

For safety, the trailers they use are gutted. They are only the shell. When I was a kid, our local dirt track had those races twice a year. The trailers were inspected to ensure there was nothing left in them, before they were allowed to race.

I see that too. The gallon bags vs: quart or sandwich bags... or even freezer VS: the regular bags. Yep. I tell you how tight I am... I buy the twist-tie-type bags as well... they are 40-50% cheaper that zip top bags(you have to look for them). We also use Correll ware vs: paper plates(home). Good paper/foam plates are expensive and don't work as well. Yep I am T I G H T ! ! !

Where you buy it can be as important as what you buy.
Example: don't go to Campers World

Just bought my 3rd at CW in Myrtle Beach. A new Montana this time, Cougar last time, and Heartland before that. Best price and best service anywhere!

Not local, DW and I have been camphosting at Morro Bay State Park. We just left today, our tour of duty is over for this year.

We will be back in October to host at Montana de Oro and then move back to MoBay in February.

We are actually from Arizona by way of South Dakota.
