We toured Pirateland and Lakewood to see how they compared and it was no comparison. Lakewood was run down and looked like a redneck trailer park. Not too mention, they had the rudest security that tirned me off immediately. I went to get a looking pass and someone pulled right up behind me. The guard motioned for the car to go around. He was unable due to his closeness to the back of my car so I told the guard I was going tonpull up about 5 feet. As soon as I inched forward, the guard started screaming at me. My DW was even appalled at his actions and she is ALOT more tolerant than me.

Pirateland was ok but Ocean Lakes had more appeal to me.
You might like Myrtle Beach Travel Park. Pretty similar to Ocean Lakes, if I remember correctly.

We were camped next to this guy for a weekend

I thought maybe it was just a truck he owned for his business or something, but it had recreational RV tags on it. It had air brakes and everything.

Many times, the only mod is removing one of the rear axles on the tow vehicle. The pin fits. The cost of a used one of these can be comparable to a one-ton pickup. I don't think I'd want to use it as a daily driver and would think it makes parking, etc. difficult when sightseeing.

That's an awesome pic, but I gotta wonder how long it took to park everything and set that up.

But depending on state and the registered weights you might need a class A or B non-commercial license.

Yup. People think "RVs" are exempt from driver's license classes.
