Yep. We obviously know our music. I think some of us probably majored in it.

Not hijack the thread, but they may not be wild much longer. EMD is now owned by Progress Rail, a Caterpillar subsidiary, since around 2010 and there have been rumors for the last 3-4 years that they will be shutting it down. I know at one time they were having trouble meeting the EPA's Tier 4 emission requirements. Here's a recent article postulating shutdown:

Neat looking rig. 4x4, Power Stroke. Guy who owns it travels all over the country in it.

Seen this really long camping train on the way to the campground. Never seen this before. It was around 20 cars, with huge generators and dining cars.

Moro Campground part of Crystal Cove State Park in CA

First picture is of a driftwood horse pretty much permanently mounted in the bed of a campers truck. He is an "artist" who creates statues out of natural resources. First time I saw it he was driving by our campsite on a slightly lower road and all I could see was the horse, no truck. Really caught me by surprise.

Second picture is of our MH & TOAD. Found the picture of our rig on the CA State Park website which features information about the Moro Campground. http://www.crystalcovestatepark.org/...d-information/

EMD was GE's competitor. Originally owned by GM now owned by Caterpillar. GE locomotives are built in Erie, PA and more recently Ft Worth, TX. I worked a little bit of everywhere!

Yeah, that "strategic footprint" is gonna come down hard on about 600 workers.

As a matter of fact, yes. Yes there is. About a mile back from where I was. KOA of Eureka MO. There is actually 4 tracks there. 2-track Main line UP and 2-track main line BNSF. Its a busy set of rails for sure.

Red line is UP
Yellow Line is BNSF

They run literally side by side about a half mile south for 3-4 miles. Still waiting to see a UP vs BNSF drag race.

And just to close the circle on this "derailment" all together... There is really a prison off to the right where I took the picture. LOL

And to bring this back on topic:

I stayed at that KOA and, among the things I saw at that RV park was the 2017 Great American Eclipse.

Train tracks near campgrounds --- Ugggh.

Stayed in one alongside the BNSF main line through the Cascade Mtns and my site just happened to be next to where the engineer blew the whistle for a grade crossing. All night long.

A contractor generator set would have been quieter

I'm going to guess, YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN TO GOSHEN. If you have not been there on a Thursday night, you have never heard trains before. The worst part is there is a row of campers next to those lines.

No, I haven't yet. I have been to the Good Sam park in Monument, CO however. Coal trains are still pulling as hard as possible as they crest the summit where the park is located. Two or three engines with throttles wide open only making 15-20 mph so you not only get to listen to the nose, you can literally feel it as well.

As long as the trains remain on the rails I have no problem. I actually enjoy hearing and feeling them go by.
