Since we can't see what your talking about, it must get great fuel mileage.

Another group I am on has a "Meanwhile, at the boat ramp..." that is just as funny. I can't pass up showing this picture. I'm still trying to decide if his tongue weight is ok or not.

I seen something similar late last year.
They don't tow that way... it is just used to launch the boat since the short wheelbase vehicle would be in the water when backed in far enough to launch the boat.

Hell, I got a LONG wheelbase (Ford Excursion) and I'm 4-tires-wet when launching my pontoon. It's a shallow ramp, ya know...

With a "shank wheel," who cares about tongue weight?

The shank wheel becomes a fulcrum and if the boat trailer's tongue is heavy enough it'll lift on the back end of the car.

True - But that's a whole different tongue weight issue than we're used to!

(Assuming that Smartcar weighs 1000 lbs, given the distance from the car to the wheel and the distance from the wheel to the ball, I'd estimate at LEAST 4,000 - 5,000 lbs on the ball to raise the car. I'm guessing you could probably lift that pontoon boat trailer tongue by hand - it doesn't even have a tongue jack.)

Never mind the fact that the little wheel would be turning about 30,000 RPM if it ever touched down at highway speeds. Can you say 'grenade'?

I'd be amazed if the Smart Car could even get up to minimum highway speed with the boat in tow.

I'm going to go with those who say this is just being used like a "tug" that tows the boat from storage to it's launch ramp. Maybe at walking speed.
