My parents started us in a tent, Coleman? popup with nothing in it except pump faucet sink, bunks and dinette. Then came the talk of the campground.....a 1970 Apache Ramada! By then, the Ramada also had hard plastic roof on the bunk ends along with the hard sides. It was the attraction of the campground everytime anyone saw it start to open. It had, as above, I think it had a city water hookup (don't remember if it had FW tank or pump) and a 110v recepticle on the outside that accepted a regular extension cord for power. There was a fridge of some sort but I don't remember how it was powered (ice?, electric?). It was the larger of the 2 models which had twin opposing dinettes/beds (one larger than the other & slept 8). The larger model was longer with a second side window to the right of the entry door (2nd dinette side). Picture below shows the smaller Mesa model.

We saw this at a service station in Oakridge, Ore yesterday, Says on the back of it that it is an Airstream.

Saw one at a KOA in Ohio this in July. Can't decide if it looks like horse trailer or Roman chariot. Agree way too expensive.

There are getting to be more people doing this set up every year now but in Florida they do not allow you to convert a semi to a motorhome and mount a 5th wheel hitch on the truck, technically you can only tow a bumper pull. You can travel in the state with a 5th wheel as long as your registered in your home state, our Kenworth is registered as a RV in the state of Delaware.

Maybe I should put this on another thread, moderators please decide.
I guess you could say "it's one way to level the TV if the TT tongue is too heavy"?

If this isn’t considered blocking the view of the driver, then I don’t know what is.
On another note, this attachment virtually blocks all the lighting system of the vehicle.......eliminating any night time driving for sure....but there’s no way anyone could see any turn indicators of the vehicle, IF this owner even feels the need to use them. I see no substitute lighting on the attached platform.
Safety certainly doesn’t seem to be on their mind, so I guess it’s too much to expect they’d signal anyway.

Hi Ken, Terry
I've been studying the original photo again thinking it might be "click bait" for doityourselfrv.com, it certainly got my attention, so maybe it is.
If it is photo-shopped then it's pretty good. The only questionable thing is the rear-end of the truck looks to be squatting even with 600-700#'s or very much more, of bike hanging on the front-end, if anything I would think the front should now be squatting.
Plus, really, who would be this stupid to drive like that with such a huge blind area as the fairing let alone the rest of the bike showing above the hood?
The more I look at the photo I think I've been snookered!
Geoff
PS. How's the weather around Belleville, we had 12" of fluffy water until Saturday am, down to 3" last night but gained 2" by this evening (Mon) and more to come!
