In this case it 'appears' that one 50a breaker feeds the 30a receptacle and the other 50a breaker feeds what looks to be a 15a/20a household duplex outlet under where you are plugged in. A BIG no-no either way.

I can't tell from the photo but what kind of receptacle is under where you are plugged into and is that an adapter? And if it is a regular 15a/20a outlet, why were you plugged into it instead of the 30a outlet.

That would be the 50 amp. Not an adapter.

I'm not saying it isn't but look right above where the plug is inserted and tell me that doesn't look like part of a 15a/20a duplex outlet?

Follow Doug's link (by clicking on the picture) and then once at Flickr, click on the picture to make it larger.

I suppose someone could have modified the box with a hole saw and inserted a 50a receptacle???????

It looks to me like they removed the duplex receptacle and trimmed the opening and installed the 50 amp receptacle.

Originally there was probably a 30 and a 20 amp breaker and they just replaced those with two 50 amp breakers.

Probably right... modified.

Wonder if they're still feeding the 30a receptacle with one of the 50a legs? Hope not.

As far as the two separate 50a breakers... not really a big deal as far as supplying current... as long as each breaker are on separate phases. (which could be plausible in this box)

The double breaker with a bar typically gets you that in a conventional power distribution box and also assures when you turn off the breaker, BOTH legs of the feed are disconnected.

Sorry, Tapatalk didn’t show me this and made it seem like I had seen all of the messages here.

But, like mentioned- it was a 50amp outlet and I was plugged directly into it.

I don’t think I had power to the rig until both were flipped on. But I don’t know if it was just my impression (A/Cs not kicking on, though I have at least one on each leg) or if it was the EMS preventing power or if I truly didn’t have power until both were on.

Maybe you should have gotten a coat hanger, welding rod, cotter key or something and help them out.

I did wonder the same thing.

I do agree with the box being modified. I was mainly commenting about what plug was in use. I haven't seen one with out the 15/20. As long as it was done right.

This reminds me, when asking for campground referrals, to ask specifically about the safety and adequacy of their electrical system.

It looks like there’s also a weatherproof outlet box on the opposite side with a 15A extension cord plugged into it. I wonder where the breaker is for that receptacle.

If I recall correctly, that was a cable TV connection.

I'd love to get my hands on one of those... Everyone I've seen the RV section was in really bad shape.
