I'm thinking he didn't want to spend $2500 to replace his AC evaporator. He already had a window unit and a genny, so.... Voila.

I have seen grates on BBQ grills that look stronger than that grill guard.

If you're talking about the van with the side window A/C and generator, it doesn't have Texas plates.
