No way. Those F150s can carry just about anything. Or so says my friend who thought it would be ok to tow a tracked front end loader on his without chaining it down. His 'defense' was that he was just going from the back of his property to his neighbors just a 1/4 mile down the road, and he had the brake set and bucket down....

I've towed my JD450H dozer quite a bit with my truck. I can tell you that there are few things as slippery as a dozer on a flat surface, especially if it's steel on steel. I had 2.5 inch think oak planking on my steel ramps on the trailer to move it. Without the oak it would slide sideways on those ramps on the very slightest grade. If I moved it 50 yards, it had five very heavy tie down chains on it.

Wow, that's wrecked! The sad thing is that for a 1/4 mile going slow, it probably would have been fine if it was chained down.
Of course a 1/4 mile is under 500 yards and around here they would have just driven the machine down the road.

Don’t worry, it will buff out!

The loader had a knock in the engine, and he didnt want to risk running it that far. He probably would have been ok if he truly had the bucket down hard. He had it in 'float', and when he argued with me I pointed out that if the bucket was not in float, it would still be at the same height as the bottom of the tracks and up in the air, not sitting on the trailer.

It wasn't wrecked. He unloaded the loader, and drove the truck to work for a couple weeks before getting it into the body shop for a new bed. As far as I know, there were no "mechanical" repairs needed.

Oh, and it has a 6 inch lift on it to boot. That's really impressive when you see the bumper on the ground.

Back in the day, in the Army, we used to off-load dead tracked vehicles this way. It's call a "combat off-load". There's an art to it. In this case, the gentleman ran out of talent.

Buddy of mine tried to haul his (pretty good sized) dozer on a low boy trailer “just across the highway” and steel on steel don’t work. Dozer slid off...or mostly on the highway.

Chatfield State Park, Colorado. We saw balloon launches nearly every morning while we were there.

jcr59 - We live about 3 miles as the crow (or balloon) flies from Chatfield State Park. It's a nice park to have so close to home. You were obviously not just there - we have had about 15" of snow in the past week!

LOL! no, we were there in June.

Loved that campground, especially the view. Our DD and family were living in Littleton, now in Castle Rock. We hope to get back out there camping next year.

That's really cute, I love it.
I bet it has some really good cargo capacity, those trailers are strong.

Things you see in an RV Park

The way some people love their pets there’s probably a horse in it !!

My daughters dog thinks it a human. Has no clue it a dog !!

Not in a campground, but a parking lot.
