Yes - When the delivery truck from Southern Gas came to the campground we were at in Fort Myers, it played a variety of songs that seemed to be mostly Christmas songs. I think they did that so you knew they were there in the campground and if you hadn't signed up to get propane you could maybe flag them done.

Had them fill a tank last Friday. They even called me as requested when I signed up before they got to my unit to fill the tank.

Blow up an engine on a vacation trip, when you have to be back at work, choices are buy a new truck or rent.
Been there, done that. Lost the serpentine belt when the AC bearings locked up, on a Sunday before a Monday holiday, and 700 miles from home. Knowing Ford would need to order parts, Uhaul was the best way to get us and the trailer home. I wondered what passers by were thinking.

The other thing to do is store the trailer. Rent a car for the rest of the week and come back and get the TV and camper. We were in PA and a couple from CA had an accident in their pickup while enjoying the area. They flew home after their week and came back after the truck was repaired.

KOA inspection crew

These guys rolled in at the Monument Valley KOA. They are one of the KOA inspection crews that travels around to visit and inspect the KOA campgrounds. Not a bad gig to travel the country in a nice 5th wheel like that. I guess somebody's got to do it! LOL

They SHOULD be undercover; that's the only way to find out what's REALLY going on.

Yep I agree. most of the folks that are in to these types of inspections do a pre advance notice to the camp ground also. Gives them time to spiffy up the area. Later RJD

We gave the Monument Valley KOA a pass last year. Wide open with no protection and there was some weather blowing in.

They do this where I work... I think it's ridiculous. Management will come out at us like rabid dogs..... Clean this, paint that, fix that.... Then the dog and pony show.... Then do nothing for a year.

At least some things do get cleaned up that might never get looked at. I worked for a company that had white glove inspections every 3 years in our warehouse. At least it was cleaned and sorted looking for while.

Remember KOA park owners are franchisees. Corp doesn't own them, they are not employees.

This is true and if they do not keep up with KOA standards or also if the owners of the campground choose not to stay with KOA they end their contact with them. We have been in a lot of campgrounds that are not KOA's but still have that triangular building that show they was were a KOA

That's actually kind of terrifying. Would be better if they at least had some shoes on.

Exactly the way it should be done for “surprise spot checks”.

So... this happened yesterday. Fellow came in and what you can't see cause I'm in the way... there is a drop off with railroad ties near his LR tires and he got too close them (pulling forward on a pull through site) and almost flipped his rig on its side.

He wasn't good at backing (and was reluctant to help) up and when trying to continue to pull forward, the tail swing got him into the camper next to him. (there are some really tight sites in some locations)

We asked the lady in the travel trailer to put their slide in, only to find it hadn't moved in several years. (permanent site) We had to crank it in by hand so the toy hauler would clear.

I felt bad as it took the fellow over an hour to finally get parked but thank God he didn't flip off the bank. He would have likely crushed/killed the lady in the travel trailer and totaled it along with his truck and toy hauler.Click image for larger version
