Did you check to see if it was still functional? Or is it just a road side photo op?

I see one of these at just about every campground I go to.

How would you go about using one of those? It doesn't have a spot to put in your credit card or anything! How else you gonna' pay for your phone call??

Phone is functional. Local calls $0.50. Almost no cell service here so phone is in case of an emergency.

Walked out of my trailer and saw this down the road. I suspect he was changing sites, but...

Let us know how that goes, doesn't look like he has much space between the pole and slide.

Cades cove had one. Used to let my grandson call home with some qtrs. Let it ring and hang up, they would call us back. Last time it showed up as unknown caller so it took a lot of qtrs that trip

After much jockeying back and forth, a number go goal walks, and some serious discussion with the folks directing, he got it settled in. From the time I started watching, he took longer than I do on my worst days. He did almost clip another pole at the back of the site.

Nickels, dimes and quarters. Back in the day the operator would tell you "insert XX¢ for the next three minutes", or you called "collect". Still a lot of those here in Alaska. Mostly in areas where there is no cell service. In an emergency you can dial 911 for free and the system will connect you to the State Troopers.

Back in the day, you could make a call with a penny. As you dropped the penny in the nickel slot and hit the coin return plunger simultaneously, it would accept it and and I got a dial tone.

Or you could unscrew the earpiece and touch the ground terminal on the earpiece to the coin drop. Instant dial tone. Been there, done that.

I had to do that once when my slide was non-responsive and we HAD to move.

Yeah, mine was stuck about 14" out on a 36" slide. It got stuck and bound while we were bringing it in.

Then they put set screws in the earpieces to reduce damage from vandals like you.

The Sonoma Valley Citizens Advisory Commission last week considered developer Milestone Housing’s proposal to close down the Oak Park Trailer Court off Siesta Way -- and voted 7-3 to back the project, with an eye toward supporting the planned 92-unit affordable housing for seniors.
