Yup ... had one of those just not quite as fancy with round window in back. Had a Slant Six engine and 3 speed on the column....wasn't in as nice shape either. IIRC it was a 1963 model.

yes the A100 was the first generation I guess. back in that era the USA made several pretty cool vehicles where you sat on top of the front axle like that. But I guess ralph nader's campaign for safety might have had something to do with the manufactures moving the cab back to allow for crumple zones.

I drove a Corvair van in HS as a delivery van. Pretty fun, but dangerous as hell.

Just like here today, people would read the PSI stamped on the tire and inflated them to what they read. Corvair tires were supposed to be inflated to 16psi front and 26psi rear. (they were rear engine and all the weight was in the back).
pump the front tires up to 32psi and you could hardly keep them on the road. (Plus add the smoke from oil leaks blowing smoke through heat transfer tubes into passenger compartment.
Sure the anti role bar helped (was an option from 62-64), but in 65 they brought out a new suspension, but Ralf nader had already done his damage. the worse part was a 1972 government study vindicated the Corvair, finding that it was just as safe as any other car (Nader called that study “rigged”)
PS: In the late 70's I was an apprentice for a man who made his name fixing corvairs. as the new guy I had to work on all of them. I have driven every model they made .
Edit: I have never driven This model, but I figured I would add it here since this is a camping forum.

I think it was more to move engine out of passenger space to reduce noise, heat, and improve interior comfort.
Even then in an accident driver and passenger in a van were " first to the scene of the accident.".
I had a '73 B200 with 360 engine. Sold it for half what I paid new with 348,000 miles 10 years later.

Dog? What dog?? I kid you not, this was with the people next to us... in like a 26 foot TT... when we were out in SD a couple months ago! They also had two small dogs, as well.

We had some folks next to us in FL that had a pig. Owner said it had actually rooted through the floor of his previous R/V and was doing damage to this one.
It would have been bacon and ham had it been mine.

I saw some folks with a toy hauler that had a pig with them on the Outer Banks. They had a ramp up to the door and a little fence so it could go in and out as it wanted.
At our place here in FL the lady next door has one, it is very seldom outside.
I don’t know how you housebreak one of them but that has to be a pretty nasty litter box.

LOL. Yep, I remember them. Butch? I think. I got the impression it was more her pig than his, though. I talked to her a few times and the pig was an angel, never heard about any damage! And yeah, pigs are food around here, too. In fact, we had some great barbecued ribs just last week...

We have a fence that works great. Fences are everywhere these days. Only issue we've run into is they are invisible at night. Solved that problem by hanging rope lights around the upper edge of the fence. I use 4, 1/2" x 36" steel rods driven at corners and gate that add a lot of support to the fence.
Best money spent on the pups. Easy to set up and tear down too. Stores in the truck.
