It was on the Internet, so it must be true.

Actually the official nomenclature for it is 100 MPH tape. It is supposed to stay on something at speeds of 100 MPH. It was also called duck tape because it was made from OD green cotton duck fabric. It was used in WWII to repair torn uniforms, ruck sacks, etc. It was used in Vietnam for patching the leading edge of Huey rotor blades. I used lots of it in the Army working on missile systems - don't know if it came loose at over 100 MPH or not. Once the missile fired we didn't care.

Had a maintenance officer whose favorite saying was - If it moves and is not supposed to, use 100 MPH tape. If it is supposed to move and doesn't, use WD-40.

Good stuff, in Tidewater Virginia I have seen 100s of convertable tops repaired with it too.

Always looked funny black tops green tape..............

While it's a lighter trailer, the axle is further back on a 5th wheel so there is much more tongue weight. There is already more tongue weight on the 5th wheel hitch and that modification puts the tongue much further forward so even more sits on the hitch.

I'm fairly sure that the longer the hitch the more lever moment we have.

Come on engineers, jump in here with this lowly ancient electrician.

Correct!

Not that the little Jeep Compass would be an awesome tow vehicle with a travel trailer of any weight, but that redneck engineering is definitely not helping.

Well, if your vehicle was used to lift a heavy weight on the back of the trailer by pushing down on the hitch, that would apply. It’s the opposite.

let's say it is a 5k trailer, if it follows the standard 20% on the pin, that makes it 1k on the hitch. plus the added weight of their front end mods.

With the wheels so far back almost any weight added adds to the hitch, makes it hard to put weight behind the wheels to use the lever action to take weight off the hitch.

On the plus side wheels so back will make for less tail swing.

At an RV park in Springfiled, MO this morning. Looked it up online: the largest legally trailerable houseboat in the U.S. The pontoons on the roof fold down.

That must be the cheaper version of 200 MPH tape. Supposedly because NASCAR used it.

Sorry if this is a duplicate. Seems like it didn't post the first time.
Saw this in a campground off of the Avenue of the Giants in N Ca some years back.
