Around here, it's known at the Toyota PIOUS.

(Because their owners are so much better than the rest of us, don't you know. )

That's not very nice, but funny as hell......rolling coal?????

I know a guy with a Prius, who after a few cold ones at the VFW would always get in his save the Earth, doing his part by buying a Pious, rant LOL. The same guy refused to pay the $3.00 per tire disposal charge the tire places charge around here. He took the old ones home and burned them in is backyard LOL.

On topic for the thread. Back in the 70's at a state park our family camped at often, we became friends with a family who had a converted school bus. It was very nice inside from what I remember. The family was of Italian descent. They had the outside painted red, white, and green like the Italian flag. In block letters about a foot and a half high on each side it said Dago Winnebago LOL. I guess I can say that as I am also partially of Italian descent. I wish I had a picture of that thing to post.

I don't know what's more embarrassing - the tow rig or the fact they got pulled over by a station wagon.

If they build them right, electric is faster and more powerful than gas or diesel. Check this guys car.

Love to have one but it's one of a kind.

The "Exploder" is what the L.A.P.D. is buying now-a-days. I talked to an officer about them, and he told me that they actually handle better than the Crown Victorias that they are replacing.

However, he said he REALLY liked the Dodge Chargers they are getting for pursuit vehicles!

He said the Explorers are very well-suited for patrol work.

No more cars for us. All the police Interceptor utility (the Explorer version) from now on plus a few pickups. We have 4 now. Chargers are fast but not built like they used to be so they are always breaking down. Car version of the Interceptor is good for highway use but not so much for room and equipment placement. They are turboed ecoboosts in them I think. They are very fast, they do handle better than the vice but it does take some getting used to with the all wheel drive handling vs rear wheel drive.

About a month ago we saw a 5th wheel with a full side slide at one of the big RV Resorts in Myrtle Beach. I can't remember the name of the camper or which RV Resort.

Which is why locomotives and ocean liners use electricity to turn their wheels and propellers.

When they make an electric truck that I can afford and that will pull my 5ver, I'll get in line

Until then, I'll keep laughing at all the cars with a 'smaller carbon footprint' that can't make it over any hill without slowing to a crawl

The company I worked for had 2 GE D-32 dc generators from a locomotive converted to drive a car shredder. Each ran from 600 volt 2500 amps.

I suspect that school busses are built for "the long haul", and have been finely tuned over the years to have next-to-no "bugs". Though not the prettiest vehicle, I would imagine they're very, very reliable.

A friend has a WanderLodge. It's an RV based on a BlueBird school bus. It is built to "take it", is beautiful inside, and is completely trouble-free. The ol' Detroit diesel is a screamer, though!
