Re: helicopter toad

That must be some serious precision parking to get it on the trailer for transport.

I’m guessing he separates from the rig at takeoff and landing huh?

Landing on trailers is everyday routine for helicopters. I've watched many larger airframes land on smaller trailers than shown in the picture.

For the record...I firmly believe helicopters are not capable of flying. The earth rejects them.

"Unstable platforms flown by unstable people".

(Just one of many, many descriptions of 'em, all mostly true. )

This is serious precision parking:

"I’m sure all of you have seen many choppers make some daring moves, but this one is spectacular. Hope you enjoy it. This attached shot was taken by a trooper in Afghanistan. Pilot is Larry Murphy, PA National Guard. Larry is a Keystone Helicopter Corp. EMS Pilot employee called to active duty. I must state that this is a “unique” landing operation. I understand that this particular military operation was to round up suspects.

"We have some super reservists and National Guard folks out there in addition to our volunteer troops. God bless them all."

I worked on CH-46's in the Navy in the early 1970's and I read a story in a military magazine about a CH-46 (very similar to the CH-47 Chinook in the pic above) that had extracted some Marines from a fire fight in Viet Nam. The Marines were beat and all fell asleep. On the way back, they lost both engines. The pilot auto-rotated into a rice paddy so skillfully that the Marines never even woke up!

I think I could get used to cruisin in either it or the rolls...maybe use the rolls for my go-to-meeting car.
