I'm confused. What is it that you are reserving? HOW do you reserve whatever it is??? By what method??
And unless I am misunderstanding, this is absolutely not something I'd ever want to be part of. Folks FIGHT to maintain this method? Seriously? Why??? What do they like about it?
Maybe another thread........but this is interesting, and baffling.

They usually only do looooooong camera shots of the infield.

There's a Thousand Trails website that you reserve a site for the stay- just that one is available to you. Not a specific site # or site category or even site features (sewer vs. non-sewer). And worse- on crazy busy holiday weekends, the sites left over could all be too small to fit a big rig. I've never had it happen as we always got to the TT parks on the Tuesday or Wednesday before holiday weekends just to keep it FROM happening.
And yes- people fight for it to stay this way. Baffles my mind.

Glad you like it. Not for me. Not a problem not knowing a site number, that's fine. But knowing I have a reservation for a spot that fits my rig, that's a requirement for me to use that campground.

This is the same way Texas State Parks used to be. Supposedly you can now book a specific site, but I haven't tried it since the change took place. It wouldn't be such a problem to not have a specific site if the park would manage where people go based on equipment. But I can't tell you how many times I saw tents and popups/really small campers in the biggest sites while the bigger rigs were either forced to try to squeeze in to a small site or sent packing.

Also helps to ensure that the locals can run out on a Wednesday and get the best spots. If non-locals could reserve a site, the locals would be forced to plan far in advance or take the leftovers.

Wow. According to the Lehman Trikes brochure, that GL1800 equipped with the Monarch II LLS kit weighs 1200# (unless the kit is 1200# alone). The GL1800 GoldWing weighs 800#. Either way, that's a lot of weight. back there. What are they using for a platform and connection to the MH?

Nope. It's a Honda GL1800 GoldWing with a Lehman Trikes trike kit installed. The CanAm has the two wheels on the front.

So what do you TT members do when you reserve a spot and travel hundreds of miles only to find the last few sites left are too short and have no sewer?

A Gold Wing is a Honda Civic that can fall over. A GW trike is a GW that cant fall over.
Ergo, a GW trike is a Honda Civic.
But never mind the trike... How much trailer do you think that goofy hitch ball will support? Must be a total joy to back up any trailer attached to it.

Not a TT member, but as for Texas State Parks- we would try to arrive on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Or if we were staying with another family or 2, one of us would arrive early and then pay and claim sites for the others. If it was a campground we were familiar with and the sites would all or mostly accommodate us, we wouldn't worry about it and could arrive whenever.

Doesn't sound too accommodating unless you have time, (retired or full time) have friends willing to stake claim to the sites, or been there before to know what's good and what's bad. None of those things pertain to us, at least right now. We go places we've never been, usually with others that haven't been either and no way to get there on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
Just doesn't seem like a system that benefits most... just some.
