Maybe it didn't fit in the truck?

Sorry guys that's not us, plus the camper is a Redwood. Nice set up they have. Yes we did get a new River Stone Legacy and no on the motor cycle, not enough room on our truck for a bike and the Smart

Cut the sleeper off the tractor, plenty of room for a bike. I can bring a sawzall to Goshen.

If so, leave wife home.

You can thank me later.

You can place a 15amp plug on a 20amp breaker assuming that there are more outlets to use the demand akd the wiring is sized correctly. I bet this is against a code somewhere because this is a dedicated 30A outlet.

You only need the double breaker if providing 220 service so a single breaker on 120 should be fine as long as plugs and wiring can handle the load.

I bet they were tripping 30amp breakers (they do this when they get old and in the heat/elements which this has seen) so they put in a 50amp. This would not be ok because now you can use too much power for the wire sizing. If they swapped a 50A 220 to a 30A single then that is better. Only way to know would be remove the panel...
I am an electrician. Actually an electrical engineer, so maybe not as good as an actual electrician, but close.

Protective devices ONLY protect the wires and components downstream of those devices. If the feeder sending power to that pedestal short-circuits, that breaker most likely won't (and shouldn't) blow.

You cannot use 14ga wire (rated for 15a) on a 20amp breaker in your house under any circumstances. No matter how many outlets on the circuit.

I spend a WHOLE lot of time working on proper circuit coordination. Meaning, if a motor in my plant shorts out, I want it to blow the fuses or breakers for that motor only. I don't want it to blow the feeder fuses and take down a whole section. And I sure as hell don't want it to blow the incoming mains. (shudder) And when I say 'motor', I'm talking 1500HP 2300volt biggies. I got a great video of what happens when the circuit coordination goes wrong.

Our first camper. 1968 Serro Scotty Sportsman Gaucho. A RV Park owner liked it so well, she bought it from us, and has it on display in her Park. Now, all that go there can enjoy seeing this beauty.

There are a lot of them who have stopped allowing this, or setting other rules like.. no generators. Trying to remember where I read that awhile back so I can back it up instead of looking like I am just running my mouth.....

It's not the Wallymart but locals who prevent it. The Wally in Mechanicsville VA doesn't allow overnighting but it's the county preventing it due complaints supposedly from neighbor's.

Around my hometown just about all the big parking lots are off limits for overnight stay.

As cost of living went up so did the cost of housing for low income families. A lot of them bought (or were given) worn out old RV's and their "Overnight Stay" would turn into several weeks.

Just about every industrial area in Seattle as well as any place one can park under the freeways or bridges has an old 70's vintage RV parked. Several fires have forced the authorities to block off areas under bridges and overpasses but the residents just move to another spot and stay until kicked out there too.

It's not just the local RV parks that have campaigned for laws against spending the night in a Walmart parking lot, it's the cities trying to keep them from becoming another homeless camp.

Frog strangling tornado watch mess of a storm came thru as we were getting 2 campers parked. We abandoned one in the road to seek the bathhouse to wait out the watch (or is it warning?).

Where are you standing?

Maybe it’s a marina and not a campground

I was in that situation once. I chose to use the generator. I figured that if anyone came around complaining, I would offer them my shore power cord and tell them if they would be kind enough to plug it in for me, I would shut down my genny and/or call 911 for them.

One problem with 30 amp and 50 amp services is that there is no GFI protection at the power pedestal. And based on the condition of many 20 amp GFI outlets, I would not trust them either.

I finally shut the genny down at about 11PM, after my batteries were all charged up and we didn't need any more 120 volt power.
