Agreed! Hopefully he can find the take away/lesson from this and not get spooked entirely from RVing.

Agreed. Get back on that horse! Of course, he might be lucky and find a friend to teach him.

My brother has been through several BIG RV’s including one that scared him to drive. IIRC, his current class A is about 40’ so he has gotten over it. He came to visit once in the scary one, CO to WA and he had his eldest son do most of the driving.

He is a rancher, pulls loaded goose neck trailers, 5er, equipment trailers loaded with tractors/bobcat, etc. so for him to say it made him nervous was mind boggling to me. Then again, I have minimal experience pulling anything.

We just got back to Western WA from Fort Mohave, AZ. I towed our 2001 VW Beetle on a rental dolly which is the longest I have pulled anything. Nothing compared to our 5er but it still was an excellent experience. I learned you can not back up those things while hitched. Sigh, learned it twice. The second time in the pouring rain. I am sure it is etched in my memory. “Pre plan the route, don’t assume anything like ‘that road surely goes through.’ Fuel mileage isn’t the same in the rain, have a backup fuel stop planned.”

Oh well, being retired allows for deviation.

Yep. It's amazing how much you can tow when you don't actually own the truck.

It's just basically a one-ton dually. Of course it ain't level. It has a freaking house sitting on its bumper! I'm impressed it made it that far.

They shoulda rented one of those 26' box trucks on the International medium truck chassis. That would have done the trick.

Swangas! Idiotic trend around Houston, TX.

Here is a Houston City Constable car with it! https://www.reddit.com/r/houston/com...op_car_i_love/

It never ceases to amaze me when I see stuff like this at a Nascar campground where a lot of the RVs only get used once or twice a year. Like this one which was pulled in from about 300 miles away.

Is that a gooseneck conversion, or a bumper pull conversion? Seems to low to be a gooseneck, but the thought of somebody bumper pulling that gives me shivers.

Gooseneck conversion. You back up just like a 5th wheel onto the ball and drop that hoop to lock it to the ball I've seen a few cattle trailers set up that way in the past.

Yeah, but look at the height of it compared to that open tailgate in the photo. Big height difference. That’s gotta come way up to sit on a goose ball.

Can’t tell if it’s a conversion or factory original. Probably a conversion because goose neck setup has longer vertical with a friction bolt used to set height. I’ve never seen a cattle/horse trailer with a fifth wheel pin, only goosenecks.

Depending on the terrain at the site, there's lots of times I have to lower the front of my 5th wheel to where the pin is way lower than the floor of my truck, let alone lower than the hitch.

I don't see anything abnormal about this set up. Looks like any typical gooseneck.

Looks pretty “right” on height to me. Look how low the pin box is. If you remove the adapter you would have to raise a foot or more to clear a 5th wheel hitch.

If you're commenting on the surface rust, that thing could be 30 years old and he keeps moving it to newer rigs. It may not look pretty, but I'm sure it works just fine.

I have they are out there. I have a flat trailer with a fifth wheel pin and a local tire dealer has a box trailer with a fifth wheel pin there are also a few horse trailers running around the area with fifth wheel pins. You can get them either way although goosenecks are much more common.........
