Let’s worry about the dog and forget about all the wild animals that have crawled across the table looking for snacks or the bird droppings that have landed on it

Maybe I’m a freak. I try and be as clean as I can. Be as sanitary as I can and wash anything I worry about.
I don’t set food on stuff..even at home. Cooked or raw. I see people make a sandwich and lay the bread on the counter...are you gonna use a plate? Get it first. I own bunches of flexible cutting boards...use them continuously. Hot soapy water, bleach spray and other stuff to clean.
My kids will tell you I’m Mr. Clean. WASH YOUR HANDS!! I say it all the time. Speaking of kids... in restroom...come out and still hear commode flushing. Leave room for supper...straight to the plates, glasses, food and ice. DW is really tired of me barking at the kids(BOYS), but they haven’t learned.
I use disposable gloves and wipes all I can. It’s a sewer hose...it was nasty after the 1st use.
Sorry. Ymmv
Get your hands dirtier than you planned? Comet, dish soap, hand cleaner or even hand soap work in most cases. Really bad? Carb/brake cleaner and then soap.

Agreed! While I’ve never washed my dogs on a picnic table (that’s just odd!) I don’t really understand having any sort of a expectation of cleanliness of a porous wooden surface that is exposed to the elements, wild animals, and different types of people, 24/7/365...
Of course it’s dirty!

If you dump properly there is no need to get dirty hands. I wear gloves sometimes other times not. A dog being washed on a picnic table, no big deal, probably cleaner after the soap and water then before. Someone that has 2 cats, litter boxes inside a small trailer I would be worried breathing in that mess.

X2, I tried gloves one time for hooking up and unhooking, but, after the sewer hose exploded on me and I lived through it, I figured what the heck.

LOL I would have said clean with gasoline... I figured the police would show up and get me. I washed many things in gas before I got my parts washer and used transmission solvent in that with some trans fluid added to soften it to the skin. I might die next week.

Some folks have phobias about things where others don't worry.
Those that don't worry find via experience, the things others often most fret about simply doesn't hurt them, while the phobia folks will never take that chance.
There's no right or wrong. Do what you are comfortable with.
I'm 62, have no major health issues and have been camping regularly since I was 10.
I have never sprayed down a water spigot with bleach before connecting.
I don't wear gloves.
I've rinsed my sewer hose with the drinking water hose on occasion. (no contact)
I've eaten dinner on hundreds of picnic tables, logs and rocks.
I've drank from the stream (downstream to boot) and I let my dog lick my face on occasion.
I don't plan on changing now.

Having worked at a restaurant when I was young, I learned that the immune system is amazingly good at what it does.
How many of you saw the Undercover Boss episode where the room cleaning staff for KOA Kabins was using the same rag to clean the toilet AND counter tops???

Just my moment of entertainment.

I don't have to worry about that since I don't use gloves
