Most people do not die from the flames or heat, but the toxic gasses produced. That little extinguisher in your camper will not do very much! BUT!!! Do learn how to use it! Call me a bit anal that way, but I have also been in the right place when a guy was in an accident and caught fire! Again, there are YouTube videos and classes you can take to learn how to use an extinguisher....

I also added an additional smoke detector in the hall leading into the bedroom. Cheap mod that will save your life.

Those of you who travel with your propane on, try to shut it off at the first sign of a fire. If you can safely. The responders will thank you....it can keep a bad thing from getting worse!

When all else fails, RUN! Distance is your best friend!

Agree with all you said.
I was waiting for someone to mention that little bitty trailer FireX's capability, almost useless on any thing except a small fire, don't hold the trigger back, use short bursts only. On the photos of the fiver burning, extinguishers wouldn't have made much difference, even trying to open the hood would've failed as the release cable would have burnt quickly.
Only thing to stop that fire was removal of the heat by using large quantities of water.

Here at the resort I have that constant nightmare that a staff member will see a fire in a room or the bush and try to be a hero and put it out, just like they see how easy it is in the movies. Instead you RUN for help and let the trained people handle it. The wannabe firefighters who argue that they must go into the building to search and/or rescue someone are going to be the next victims, I tell them to turn on the oven (450F) open the door with your face directly over it and try to breath, they cannot, well a typical framed building fire can hit 900+ in a room.

Just be aware of the limitations of extinguishers and your limitations in a smoke filled space.

Yes, install several smoke detectors, both types as they detect both types of fires.

We are camping at Elkhart campground for a few days. All of the recent pictures have been from here.

This was the washing hose at the dump station at Rondeau Provincial Park. We were leaving when no one else was there (no line and no one arrived before we left the dump station) so I would have liked to be able to flush but there was no way to connect this hose to the flusher port. It leaked in the handle, too.

It was once quoted “yuz gets wats yuz paid for”

I’ve seen a number of dump stations in Provincial parks with connections like this. You have to remember, a number of rigs in Provincial parks are not in the same price range as some of us. They don’t have “black tank washing systems” and, a lot of the simpler tent trailers and pop ups just have fresh water portals......not screw together hose connections, like we might have. You and I fill your onboard fresh water tank from a hose that’s under pressure.....like at a private campground with threaded water tap connections.

At locations like this.....you dump your tanks (black and grey) use the raw ended hose to flush the “stinky slinky” and move on.

Most campgrounds do that so people don’t spend the extra 15 minutes flushing the tank. I know I wouldn’t want to sit in line waiting for someone to do that. It’s a “dump” station. Get in. Get out. Next.

X2.

I have wall mounted Halon bottles at the main door (accessible from the kitchen), the bedroom and behind the driver seat in the cab area.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news here CZNEDY.....

The FROG INTERNATIONAL RALLY is over. Time to go home.

When they folded up the Tiki Hut and the Phrog Pond, I would’ve thought you would get the message. Fun’s over. Time to go home bud.

I agree that that is probably the reason for the plain ended rinse hose. It also helps prevent backflow into the water source.

Believe me, if there was anyone waiting to use the dump station I wouldn't think of holding them up while I flush. As I said in my post, there was no one waiting and no one showed up to dump before we were finished dumping the grey tank and rinsing out the stinky slinky hose.
