The ramps i have for my golf cart are rated for 3000 pounds. I could put that car in the back of my truck.

To answer the question, two strong men, or a good, hard side kick with the trans in neutral.

Getting it off is easy. It's getting it ON that's hard.

We have a similar set up and we drive ours on and off with ramps that fit either side, they may do the same or they may winch it on and drive off. There are quit a few out there with that set up and even one place in Kansas that builds and or converts the trucks for RV life

The one that I saw had a lift under the car. I would have liked to see it in operation though. He was driving through the Blackwoods camp ground in Acadia looking to see if he could fit in any of the camp sites. I guess he didn’t believe any of the Rangers. For those who don’t know Blackwoods, he wasn’t even close to fitting.

Yes that's another way to do also the high dollar way, but probably the safest.

This guy got here late last night. He must live close because he brought the boat here this morning.

Apparently the trailer is new because he is not sure how to work the auto leveler...he spent about an hour on it yesterday. And another 2 hours today.. It kept maxing out and beeping as it lifted one of the wheels off the ground. Is this how these things are supposed to work? I would offer to help but really don't know. Someone else tried but was stumped. I would have done it manually the old fashioned way. The site is not that bad. I have camped in it before.

When he brought the boat back his solution was to put blocks under the levelers and now all but 1 wheel is off the ground.

On a side note his Toyota must be awesome to pull a 36' 10000 lb trailer with 1165 lb dry tongue weight. Keystone calls it a half ton towable trailer....cut to space shuttle.

At least he was not triple towing it. Click image for larger version

No it shouldn't have to lift the wheels off unless way out of whack. I bet the battery was disconnected and the system was never recalibrated. Now this is only an educated guess. Mine is the hwh hydraulic but if it losses power you have to spend an hour relearning the system to level. I normally do it manually any way i think i do a better job than the computer.

Sometimes they do. I have learned to leave plenty of adjustment in my front legs so it doesn’t stroke out, I stand by with blocks I. The rear. Once the front adjust and gets trailer mostly level. I am ready with the blocks, if the rear jacks deploy and it looks like more than a foot from ground I drop blocks. So that rear jacks don’t stroke out. Most days from unhitch to level and good to go less than 10 minutes.

I always wanted to tiller a ladder truck just once, but I've never gotten the chance. That is a bucket-list item for me.

Tim

Back in my video/pinball career (20 yrs, 1980 to 2000) there was a fire truck video game, a two player where you drove one of those ladder trucks on the 20" b&w screen! The front driver sat down and drove the "truck" while the tiller driver stood directly behind him/her with buttons to steer the rear part!

I miss that career, 1200 games across Northern Ontario, a monthly service trip was 2500km round trip by truck or Cessna 206!

Ahh, now I'm feeling old, where has the time gone???
