Wondering...

No more small gas engines in CA after 2024 --- Including generators.
Sounds like boondockers will need to have good solar systems and most likely LiFePo4 batteries.
Wonder if this applies to visiting campers too.
Who knows, maybe Honda will throw some money into the campaign to get this law overturned

Wondering if this applies to propane-fueled generators.
It doesn't take incredible tuning or tweaking to get a small engine to run on alcohol--probably just different carburetor jets and timing. Wondering how long it will take before the conversion kits are available.

Grass in CA will eventually go away. Same time as they run out of water which is happening quickly now.
A flaw in original urban planning. Find a place with nice, warm weather but no water then build huge cities.
That includes much of S. Cal, the Phoenix area, Las Vegas, etc.

Propane is a fossil fuel so same as gasoline.
Carb jets for Alcohol (only) need to be a LOT bigger and have you ever tried to start an alcohol-only engine? Most who do (fuel injected race engines) will squirt in gasoline first to get engine fired.

The last few years whenever I get the urge to cut, split, and stack my own wood I sit down until it passes. Then I call and order it Just had 2 cords of alligator juniper and pecan mix delivered... Woohoo!

Goats are better.
Oh well. Bright side...my golf cart will be legal in CA. I suppose it's legal now...this is confusing.
Isn't reg gas about $5 bucks a gallon? Bet there are a lot bed tanks under toppers in vehicles along the boarder?
RVs will be required to suffer through the blackouts?
Interesting no LP. That's as clean as it gets. Expensive, but clean.

Yeah on the big jets. Where an engine will operate 2 hours on a gallon of gas, the same alky engine will run 4 gallons of alcohol in one hour.
How to ID petrol alky from plants?

This could get interesting ...
Does this mean no dirt bikes, no desert vehicles, no ATVs, no gas landscaping tools etc. What are they thinking? Are disposal of lithium batteries any better for the environment. What happens if the state gets hit by a huge earthquake and there is no power for days ... it's scary.
I understand wanting to clean up the environment but at what cost.

It's the same as always. You can make all kinds of goofy laws and mandates but enforcing them is a whole 'nuther ballgame

Since you asked...The plan is to keep using it till there is an alternative available or i can no longer manage. (Probably after I'm long gone) 😇 we stay in one base camp for months at a time in winter so burn as little as possible.
The world changes slowly, and like all of us we are still tied to existing technology as there is currently no alternative. The point is that continuing reliance on fossil fuel will leave a poor legacy for our progeny.
At the bricks and sticks home we are an all electric home, electric yard tools, and mower. Is it more expensive than gas, yes, but we believe it is a step in the right direction.

Sounds good until you figure out how most of the electricity is produced. Even if you are totally solar, there is still a pretty big environment cost in production and disposal of panels.
We try and do what we can for the environment, but honestly, all it really does is make us feel better.

Cleaning up the environment is an admirable goal. But what actual impact will the banning of small gas engines have? How long does one run a lawnmower? How much fuel is actually used. I used to mow my lawn every weekend and in a year I used maybe 3 gallons of gas.
What about all the trucks that run back and forth across the country carrying freight long distances that used to be carried on trains? Which is more fuel efficient (with resulting lower carbon footprint), a semi truck? Or a train that can carry the equivalent of 400 truckloads? FWIW, in Europe many freight trains are powered by electricity. Lots of nuclear and hydro power. Even fossil fuel electric generation is more efficient in large scale plants than burning fossil fuel in small automotive (or truck) engines spread all over the countryside. Natural gas fired power plants are around 42% efficient while gas and diesel powered vehicles in highway use range from 20-35% (taking into consideration traffic congestion etc).
The consumer demand for getting items "Right Now" has pushed freight to trucks from trains. Start putting long distance freight back on trains and then distribute locally with trucks. Highways would last longer too.
Now if those who use small engines were as organized as the Trucking Industry, etc, this law probably would have never seen the light of day.
I seriously doubt that anyone considered any of the unintended consequences but what's new.

In CA it might mean the State Assembly will have to shut down for a while and there'd be break in their production of laws like this
{meant to be humor, not politic}

How true because in reality, for every one who makes the attempt there are thousands who say "not me, let the other guy give up his (fill in the blank)".
The ONE thing that would make a huge difference would be a change in our "throw away society" where items are used once then tossed.
On that I'm doing my part by driving a 17 year old truck and a Cell Phone that's several generations out of date. My previous TT was 22 years old when I upgraded.

It'll be just a matter of time that CA will ban airplanes that are not electric to take off and land in that state or even create a no fly zone for petroleum planes. And of course cows/steers will be banned too....

Yep, nothing worse than cow farts! Except volcanos, that is. We should ban volcanoes.

Yes, those are called solar panels. I've also seen some small rv windmills . Personally I have boondocked for weeks without starting the generator with only 400 watts of solar. Getting water was a bigger issue than electricity
So yes, there is such a thing as electric generators. Not cheap, but there are alternatives.

Doesnt the article state Sale,? You will still be able to use existing equipment. I just see a lot of out of state purchases.
