Time to sell.

In every campers calendar, the season comes when you know it is time to hang up the RV for good. I just passed my 76 th birthday and neither my wife nor I are in good health. The last two years have seen us on the road for only short trips and not out of the state. We have reached that season.
Where to start??? Take it to a dealership to sell or sell it yourself? How to price it? All kinds of questions, very few answers.
Has anyone heard of a group called “National Vehicle Service Agreement “? They say that for a fee ( $600 ) they will take care of the advertising and sale for us. The price they are listing for is way beyond what I thought we could get.

I had a 2019 Rockwood GeoPro G17RK. When I was looking at buying a new trailer in March last year, the dealer told me I could probably get $13,500 for it (they offered something like $11K trade in). I put it on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace for $14,400 and it sold in less than 48 hours. Look at RVTrader.com to get an idea of what your trailer is selling for (mostly from dealers). I believe NADA also has RV values listed. Put it on craigslist and/or facebook marketplace for $1,000 to $1,500 more than what you would be willing to sell it for. Unfortunately, the RV market is not as hot as it was 1-2 years ago because of the pandemic. A lot of 1 to 2 year old RVs are coming on the market right now because of the end of the pandemic and the gas prices.

I used National Vehicle last year. I was NOT impressed. First of all, they way overprice the value of your vehicle to get your business. Don't believe them. If it was as easy to get the price they suggest, you wouldn't need them.

After decreasing the price as time goes on, they will ask for more money to put it up for auction. They swear that they can get it done there. Wrong.

Finally, when I sold it through my own advertising, unless you have them do the financing, they don't seem to care about you much to help with any paper work.

This is just my experience and I would never recommend them to anyone..

All I can say is location location, several years ago tried to sale father in law truck. Posted on Craigslist just scammers responded, advised in my home town no luck. I decided to drive it 20 miles down the road to my part time job. I always show up a little early, but since I parked the truck in parking lot of local grocery store. I wasn’t as early as normal, but I had time to call the wife to have her bring father in law and ride home. The guy saw the truck saw me walk across the street so instead of calling he just drove to where I worked. 6 months no bites in my home town 6 minutes 20 miles away and success. Funny thing is 3 months later or there about my grandfather’s sisters husband comes knocking on the door ( he lived in Colorado) never been to my house so imagine his and my shock when he was standing at the door the truck parked in the street. He was looking for for father in law because he didn’t fill out the title correctly. Same thing when I tried to sell my motorcycle posted on line but 4 months later no takers, just like the truck it had been sitting awhile the daughter had a cheer performance about 4 hours away. The wife had a friend in town so she wanted to go early to visit. So I told her go I had to work but I drive bike down and see if I could sell. Before end of the weekend the bike wasn’t mine anymore.

Unless I missed it this is an "RV" they're considering selling. Whatever that might be...

Popup and pusher motorhome "RVs" will have different potential buyers. Things like age, condition, all matter. Selling price is controlled by the buyer. Dealers won't buy a hooptie RV.

I would suggest checking into your options and seeing which wound be best for you. I had considered consignment at my RV dealership but quickly ruled that option out. Selling it privately found likely yield best profit.

After my brother passed away my sister-in-law sold their 5th wheel on Craig’s List. That sale went fine without any problems.

While seriously considering selling my trailer I revived several offers, all in the same price range. Later when I was ready to move forward, I unexpectedly received a good offer from Toyota for both the truck & travel trailer which I accepted. A year later I still have no regrets.
