Tire care

I just replaced original RV trailer tires on my unit and have read in an online post, not to use tire protective sprays that are used for passenger cars. Due to it not protecting from dry rotting while not being used regularly. I'd appreciate any feedback on what you our forum members are using. Thank you.

Just use 303 on them no worries

I second that...
I use 303 on my tires, as well as my boat seats boat trailer tires. Love the stuff, and it really protects vinyl / rubber. Even use it on my trucks' soft tonneau cover.

Save your money and just wash the tires off when you wash the rest of the vehicle. They will last as long as they are going to last without all the "beauty products".

They will last longer if you use your RV rather than just letting it sit. If semi-permanently parked in a seasonal site or storage a more effective protection is some form of sun shield. A simple cover like a piece of thin plywood works great (and you don't have to re-apply every month).

Hello neighbor! I live near Somerset!

Tire sprays that inhibit UV are often good for ANY tire.
Automotive sprays that give that' baby butt shine' are often detrimental to MANY tires.

In my many years of use and reading on various R/V forums, the consensus is Aerospace 303 for all rubber products on an R/V including tires. It is all I've used for more years than I care to admit.

Keeping the tires covered (but breathable) also helps.

Thank you 5Picker, and neighbor. Original owner had something sprayed on tires, that made one heck of a mess when it got warm out. I just didn't want to make that mistake again. Anyway, we do use 303 rv cleaner, so we'll just stick to that brand and avoid issues. And we are in the process of ordering tire covers for when it's setting between camping dates. Can't wait, first outing May 23rd-28th at Hickory Hollow site #76. Have a safe camping season and stay safe.

I'll agree that tire shines, dressings, or beauty products are mostly a detriment to tires of all types and kinds. I still use them on my vehicle tires because I wear them out far faster then they are no longer safe due to ageing out..

However I will stand by my statement (for whatever it's worth, coming from an accounting manager) that 303 Aerospace protectant is a very fine product, that I have been using now for over 10 years. Maybe it helps, maybe it doesn't. I can tell you that on everything I have used it on, when I've gone to sell that vehicle / trailer / boat, I have received all positive comments as to how good my products look. Far better than anything else of the same age / vintage. The customers' words, not mine.

I will continue to use 303 products, on tires and vinyl.
