To grease or not to grease

When we opened our slide for the first time this year it was grinding louder than normal .we went to the dealer today to buy some slide grease. The dealer said do not grease the gears it only attracts dirt. They suggested just wipe with a cloth or blow with an air compressor to remove any grit. Any thoughts on this?

I grease mine. They are enclosed while traveling and are under the slide when extended, how much "dirt" are you going to get under there? They seen to slide in and out better with some grease on them. Just my opinion.

I have been using this.

Works well as a lube and does not seem to attract a lot of dirt, I also use it on the seals and stab jacks.

Related: my slideout made grinding noises but turned out the noise was coming from the slide awning. Shots of WD40 at either end of the roller fixed it.

This!
Slideout, seals, stab jacks, squeaky doors, steps, hinges....pretty much everything that moves! and a little goes a long way!

Lippert?
Hydraulic or Electric?
Lippert Master Towable Manual (Googleable):
hydraulic - "moving pats. They can be washed with mild soap and water. No grease or lubrication is necessary and in some situations may be detrimental to the environment and long term dependability of the system."
electric - "Note: Do not lubricate rack or pinion gear teeth, lubricate drive shaft only. Note: LCI recommends Mobile One Fully Synthetic 10W-30 Motor Oil to lubricate gear pack."
