TPMS Signal Booster Install

Hi All...

After having our old rig totalled due to a massive, china bomb tire failure/explosion, (complete loss of our Surveyor 240...sigh) we decided that on the new rig, a Winnnebago 2500rl, it would be smart to install a TPMS.

My question(s): as part of the TPMS install, we will be wiring in a signal booster...anybody have any thoughts as to where to most effectively mount this on the TT? I want to wire directly into the battery. Also, does anyone recommend wiring in a simple on/off switch into the circuit in order to avoid parasitic drain?...although, I'm not overly concerned with this, since the trailer is always plugged into shore power while parked at the house.

P.S. The Winnie is a sweet rig and working out well...quality of workmanship and materials seems to be head and shoulders above the Surveyor... especially in regard to the fiberglass skin.

I zip tied mine on the rear battery tray cross bar. Just ran the lines right into the battery box. Also always on shore power so I didn't install a switch.

I have a Silverado long bed 3500 plus the 36 foot Cedar Creek fifth wheel and my TST 507 non flow through sensors work great without a signal booster

Just finoshed this job myself on a smaller rig, a Rockwood Mini Lite 2304KS.

Used industrial strength adhesive backed velcro to mount the repeater unit to the lower front surface of the trailer, just above the height of the battery box. Hard wired it to the battery disconnect switch and ground point on the frame, so when that switch is off, the unit is off.

Also used a boat style polarized connector so I could disconnect the unit when I'm not using the trailer. Weatherproof crimp connectors and shrink tubing for all the connections. Works well.

We tapped into the rear storage compartment light on our FR3 and used super velcro. It has not moved in 2 years and barely draws anything from the batteries. It's on all the time.

Velcroed inside battery box just above battery and it works fine. The last 4years .. Have a Rockwood 2608ws TT with ram 2500 mega cab good place out of weather and anything that can damage it.

I attached mine to the post that supports the propane tanks and routed the wire to the batteries. I use alligator clips to attach to the battery so I can easily disconnect when not in use.

I mounted mine on top of the propane tank cover. Ran the wire down the backside of the cover. I cut the wires going to the battery and installed male/female connectors. The alligator clips remain on the battery terminals and disconnect with the male/female connectors outside of the battery box.

We have a Class A, but what I did was a bit different. I just bought a 110v to 12v adapter and plugged the unit into an outlet behind the rear bedroom TV. Works great.

I mounted mine on the front wall of the fiver. Mine work fine until the batteries weaken then it is needed, I also have it because I tow a trailer behind mine and it was needed because of the distance. I used double sided tape, wires it into the battery and put a toggle switch on it to turn it on and off. I have the TST 507.

I found two holes in the steel right under the A frame behind the battery that I could zip tie the booster and use the built in lip or edge to set it on. I'm trying to decide which terminals to use for the alligator clips. I was hoping it would be more clear cut: black to black and red to red...
