I'd also imagine there would be a LOT of other things someone would want to 'borrow' besides pissing with my sensors. Who would want them anyway? The anti-theft device is marketing, nothing else. I never installed mine with the anti-theft.

Could happen anywhere, Walmart, truck stop, grocery store, etc.

I remove mine every fall. The manual indicates when there removed the batteries will last longer. I didn’t take off the Anti theft thingy but I have a technic that allows me to install and remove without the tool. I place my fingers on the underside of the cap and squeeze while turning. They easily remove when I do it.

Have had a few things disappear over the years, tire sensors not one. Tuppawear yes. That really pissed DW off. We leave the flow thru sensors on when camping but I take them off when we are home. Change batteries every 3 years. YMMV

Since I have 4 trailers, I keep the sensors in the truck and put them on whichever trailer I am pulling. At $50 a sensor, I'm not equipping all of them.

Hi,

Many years of no theft of my TPMS sensors, parked unattended all over the country from time to time.

But I had a set of Bearing Buddies removed from an unattended boat trailer in a national park campground. Had to gin up a couple of hub covers from Pepsi cans (to keep out road dust and grit) so I could limp into Grand Junction and buy replacements.

Still aggravates me -- stealing Bearing Buddies???

Not that I can justify them taking them ...but... I will say if they stole Bearing Buddies they'd have everything they needed for them to work. (besides a grease gun of course)

If they would take the sensors, they are useless unless they have a monitor to pair them with... oops... there goes my window!

I just leave mine on. I can also remove the sensors with my fingers alone.
The antitheft tool just gets in my way.

I don't worry about theft but I take mine off to preserve the batteries and any possible problems cause by being out in the weather for 6 months. installation or removal is pretty easy.

Mark the wheels they are removed from and put them away for the winter. Why waste the batteries? They will deplete their own batteries over time if left pressurized. Why do it? No advantage to leaving them on the wheels.

I think it depends where you live and how you store your rig. I live in N. California and store my rig indoors so I obviously leave mine on. Maybe remove them if you live in harsh conditions and store outside? Case by case I say.

While we are on the subject, has anyone ever figured out the size of the o-rings in the cap sensor?

I bought some from TST last year and I bought a bunch to save on shipping and I now can't find them. Always thought I could find some somewhere much cheaper.

I leave mine on and heading into my 3rd season with them. I also took the anti-theft housings off. I was actually able to remove the housing while connected to the tire without the tool and then able to remove the sensor. Not much of an anti-theft device, but I like being able to remove them easily now.

I supposed I could just have bought the regular sensors, but I like the low profile of the anti-theft sensors without the housing more than the regular ones.

Hi,

I am now 1,850 miles into the Quartizsite trip (from northern Illinois). The three year old, never-removed batteries have been functioning perfectly, including yesterday's startup at 13 degrees in Santa Rosa, NM.

I realize this is not necessarily predictive of the performance others may get. But it's pretty impressive to me, particularly considering the cold temperature performance after all these years.

As for the tool, I find that if I just loosen the cap I can unscrew by pulling up at the same time as I turn the cap. Same for replacing. Only need the "wrench" to snug it down so it can't be removed as long as the swivel cap is in place.

X2....I feel the same way and continue to use the wrench I have the non flow thru and usually just remove them after each camping trip the reason being I check the tire pressure manually just to compare it to the TST 507 reading and adjust accordingly. I changed out the batteries this Summer after after two seasons.
