TT v 5th wheels
Looking to buy a new camper which one do u like TT or 5th wheel? Have a family of four.

What do you have for a tow vehicle? This will determine which trailer is best.

A 5th wheel has more storage, room and feeling of spaciousness with the extra height. It also tows much better than a TT...no sway, better aerodynamic package.
Downside is the inside stairs, if stairs are an issue for mobility.

Just wondering about the better towering and more aerodynamic package? U works tend to agree, but my neighbor went to Alaska for a 6 week trip last summer. He and a friend had identical f350 diesels, one towing a 28' 5er and the other a 28' tt. The travel trailer got 30% better mileage constantly throughout the trip. In fact, my neighbor says he will buy a tt for the next trip up and sell it after he returns. Just curious about the thought myself. He said both the 5th and tt were about the same loaded weight.

We switched from a 6000 lb TT to a 8400 lb FW and the fuel mileage was near identical. I heard others report the same thing. The nose of the FW is taller but much closer to the tow vehicle.
Perhaps the F350 owner with the 30% better fuel mileage towing get 30% better fuel mileage non-towing too!

You have a truck that will handle a 5er. They are easier to hitch, ride better(tv ride), far more maneuverable when parking. More living space for the total length of the rig. I have had both over the years, 5er hands down for me if I ever go back. (class A MH now)..!!

True! I know I get worse millage with my 04 Burb compared to a friend and we both have similar driving habits. Just wondered about others experience.

Ditto, also the fiver affords better privacy than most TT's being that the bedroom is quite seperate. Also the bedroom window is 8ft above ground level, so no nose stuck against it from the outside unless of course Big Foot is a perv

I've owned two TTs and now own a fifth wheel. The fifth wheel is much easier to hook up to and go, is easier to back in, and feels more stable on the road. However, if you decide to go with a TT, as long as you get a weight distributing hitch and a good sway bar and drive sensibly, you'll be fine. There are advantages and disadvantages to both.

I agree with everyone on the 5th wheel. I had 2 TT's before I went the the fifth wheel and it was a world of difference.

I am ashamed to say that "bonnet" was for my benefit, being a Brit. However I will have ya'll amazed real soon with my lower 48 vocab, just gotta get used to biscuits and gravy for breakfast instead of roast beef and gravy for dinner, now thats tough!

How much "stuff" do you intend to put in the bed of the pick up? A travel trailer will allow you more room for that if it is important to you. For me having full access to the bed of my truck is a must.
