Unfriendly Wal-Mart found!

Heading home from the CG, the DW thought of something she needed and wanted to stop by Wally World. Murphysboro, IL was just up ahead, so we decided to stop there for her to get her items.

Pulled into the parking lot with the camper, and immediately saw this sign.

How many more of these are out there?

I'm wondering if this is a growing trend...

I've seen all sorts of no overnight parking signs. We call ahead to make sure it's allowed. Had a couple longer than desired travel days to find ones that were ok. Especially in Colorado, it seemed.

Wonder if that sign was put there by Walmart or a city ordinance?

I would guess it was put there by WalMart... since it says "... AT ANY TIME".
And, no reference to any city ordinance.

Pretty common out on the West Coast, especially in California Walmarts.

It very well could be the owners of the strip mall where Wal-Mart built to, if Wal-Mart didn't out right own the parking lot, we have one here in South Boston Virginia, they built in a strip mall.

This WM is off by itself, not in a strip mall. There are a handful of FF restaurants between the WM and the highway, but they do not share the parking lot.

Still could be the property owners rule or a town ordinance does not have to say by town / city ordinance to be one.

I've seen Walmarts with these signs and a handful of folks staying the night right next to the sign that seemingly were not asked to leave.

That Walmart was probably pushed into being unfriendly due to unfriendly, inconsiderate people taking advantage of, and abusing their previously lax parking restrictions.

We ran into the same thing at the Wal-Mart in Poplar Bluff MO. I made sure to call in advance and was told that we could park overnight. When we got there we saw the same kind of signs. All it took was going into the store and talking with the manager. He said there was no issue with us parking and honestly didn't even know about the signs. LOL

Did you obey the sign and take your business elsewhere?

We've seen Walmarts that have a metal bar across the entrance elevated at a low enough height that strongly suggests NOT to drive your RV into their lot.

The one in Sullivan Mo is like that. There is no truck stops or rest areas for a half hour in any direction if my memory is right. My guess is it’s more to keep the semis out. Good news is there are 5 camp grounds within a half hour.

There is a church near my home that actually has 10 spots in its parking lot with water and 30 amp electric hookups! I'm not sure if it's for public use or just members.
